I now have all results compiled from 1897 to 2013(first week of finals) with a few omissions. I am missing all of 1996, a few rounds and games in 2005, and probably another half a dozen games. Am currently working on round by round ladders. Quite happy to share what I have.

I'm looking for a handful of VFA-VFL results, wondering if you can help:

Would appreciate any help you can offer with this.
Cheers, Dave

Thanks, VFA1877, much appreciated. Can you give me the full ladder for 1997 entering the finals? Sandringham won the GF but weren't top 5 so I'm guessing the VFA-VFL had a Final 6 that year.
Also, have you got Port's results for that finals series?

(The 1997 top 5 listed in my previous posting was incorrect. Other information in that posting has been rechecked and is correct)

1997 Elimination Final
Port Melbourne 4-2 6-6 11-10 17-14-116
Werribee 2-6 6-11 10-14 14-16-100

1997 First Semi-Final
Springvale 4-1 6-3 10-5 16-7-103
Port Melbourne 2-2 5-4 9-6 13-6-84

VFA team scoring records have been added to the VFA Results and Tables site.

They're not the biggest thrashings but Springvale 48.21.309 - Sunshine 12.9.81 and Sandringham 44.20.284 - Dandenong 17.7.109 are outrageous scorelines just for the totals of the losing teams.

Hello Bassoon, that's a big effort. I have all 2005 results and currently have compiled about 65 seasons since 1897. What rounds in 2005 do you need and what other games are you missing?
Hi Dogs Till I Die. Haven't been on the site for a while, and missed your offer.
I'm missing the entire 1996 Season, Round 1 1995, Round 12 1994, Round 1 1994, Round 1 1993, Round 1 1991, Round 1 1990, Rounds 11 and 12 1983, and Round 13 1982. Don't ask for much, do I, but any help with these would be greatly appreciated..

I don't know if anybody has seen it yet, but quarter by quarter stats are now up on the Gap Chess Club Site up until 1924. Amazingly, these include goal kickers, best players, weather, and the umpire. This is a wonderful effort, and maybe we're not that far away from seeing the VFA/VFL in all of its entirety.

Do you just want quarter by quarter scores for these games? Also perhaps the goalkickers? I can probably provide you with some details for some of these games, but I do not have team line-ups.

Hi worbod. No, just the final scores, dates, and where played.

I've been able to get most of the above, but am missing the 1996 Prelim Final score (Frankston v Werribee), 1995 Round 14 (Frankston v Box Hill), and 1990 Round 14 (Port Melbourne v Williamstown).

Any help would be great thanks.

From the Herald-Sun:

Round 14, 1995 (July 23)

Frankston 4.3, 9.8, 13.11, 23.12 (150)
Box Hill 2.3, 6.5, 8.7, 10.9 (69)

Crowd of 890 at Box Hill

1996 preliminary final

Frankston 2.2, 4.2, 8.5, 9.5 (59)
Werribee 1.1, 2.2, 4.3, 5.3 (33)

unsure of venue at this stage

AustralianFootball has finally finished importing every quarter by quarter score for the VFL since it's inception in 1996, which is over 2,500 games.

I think this is the first time that every score is available online.

It is great to finally see advanced ladders (including average scores, accuracy and quarters won) for the state leagues.

I am also noticing that there are advanced records including highest scores, lowest scores, biggest wins, accurate scoring, etc, etc.

I have contacted the editor and they will be moving on to the VFA next, so look out for the VFA over the coming weeks and months.

A few updates from my site VFA Results and Tables:
  • Full details of VFA seasons 1897 to 1960 are now available, including quarter scores, goal kickers, best players and more
  • Seasons prior to 1896 are being gradually reviewed and updated, as more sources have recently become available to me
  • A new off-shoot site Sydney Australian Football - Results and Tables has now been created, with results from the 1903 and 1904 seasons uploaded

As far as australianfootball.com is concerned, we now have every VFA q-q score from 1897 to 1960.

The divisional system was introduced in 1961, but as yet we only have Division One scores for 1961-1970, and finals thereafter. In the off season completing the full VFA scores (Divs 1 & 2) through to 1995 will be a priority.

Then we turn our attention to the original VFA 1877-1896 (although for anyone seeking those scores online now, Andrew Robinson's GapChessCLub site is a wonderful resource).

I have recently updated the VFA Season 1887 page on my website with a few Ballarat results that were outstanding, sourced from recent additions to Trove. With this done, I am fairly confident my site contains the first complete record of all VFA matches for seasons 1877 to 1896 ever published, certainly online.

With the 1887 season done, I have updated the Aggregate Ladder 1877 to 1896 which covers all matches played in the first 20 VFA seasons.
