Toast Well done Brad Sewell - 200 games

Congratulations to dual Premiership player Brad Sewell who will be playing game 200 on Friday night against Geelong. Drafted in the 2002 rookie draft Sewell has been one of our most consistent midfielders under Clarkson. Started his career as a small defender/half back flanker but since his move into the midfield in 2007 he has been a solid contributor with his clearance work and ability to win the footy. In my opinion he is arguably the most consistent finals performer for Hawthorn in the finals since 2007. What he's achieved in his career has been absolutely outstanding and is a real credit to Sewell considering he was almost traded at the end of the 2004 season, and the fact he had to do it the hard way via the rookie draft which makes his career to date in the AFL all the more impressive.

Career achievements
- Club Best and Fairest winner (2007)
- Runner up in the Best & Fairest (2012)
- Third in the Best & Fairest (2006)
- Fourth in the Best and Fairest (2009)
- International rules team (2008)
- Premiership player 2008, 2013

I remember seeing Brad Sewell playing for Box Hill in 2003 and 2004. He was a ball magnet, strong and hard and never stopped trying. But he was not fast, and he was an awkward kick, and compared with Chris Judd, who was the model for midfielders at the time, he just didn't seem likely to have an AFL career.

But he kept getting the ball.

He's proved himself now. Big game player, always at the bottom of every pack, never played a bad Grand Final, he'll retire a Hawthorn legend.

And always a really nice bloke.

Well done Sewelly, they have written your retirement speech a few times, keep defying the critics mate.

Side Note: when was the last time we lost a milestone game?

Well don Sewell, get 40 disposals on the weekend and show Geelong how to play footy

Brilliant Career so far Sewell. Let's hope your 202n'd game is a win in the GF. Most stand out game so far? rnd 22 2009. You were BOG by a country mile, winning hard ball, feeding hawk runners, then Lloyd took a cheap shot which ended what would hsve been one of the flagstone games for any player in any career.

Don't be harsh on Lloyd, he was "Aiming for Mitchell"

One of the unsung heroes of not just Hawthorn but the whole competition. A magnificent competitor who might not be the fastest or the one witht the best skills, but you can always guarantee that he is going to give his heart and soul for the club.

Well done Sewelly!

Great servant of the club and always willing to win his own ball. His form this year has not been good apart from three games. Big risk taking him into finals based on his last two weeks (hope this thread is not premature). Lets hope he delivers for us when the chips are down.
he will
