I read this book a few years back and enjoyed it. Now I see the BBC (america) have made the tv series.

Jonathan Strange & Mr Morrell

And I was recommended this by a friend:

Deauthschland 83

Gunna give them both a shot tonight, I suspect.

I got no fall-back TV at the moment.

YOU CHAMPION

Read an article a while back on how The Americans has changed TV and Deauthschland 83 looks like the second show to kinda rip it off, look cool

never even heard of Strange & Morrell but there's 6 episodes there, i'll give it a crack

thanks mate

tell me about it

plus i had my heart ripped out when they announced Hannibal is not going to continue for a bit

I don't think True Detective will get to the same heights as the first season either.

I've got my hopes pinned on Mr Robot being 'that' show for the new few months. But, it does have Christian Slater in it, and it could go anywhere after the first efw episodes.

Yep, a lean period.

I was disappointed with true Detecive to be honest.

There was some great eye candy in the cinematography/art direction but overall it just felt shallow to me.

All charactitures, in a sense. Dunno, it's a cut above most of the dross out there, but lacked the depth/orginiality of the first season. Well, that's my first impression but I'll give it time.

it reminded me of Season 2 of The Killing with the casino and the lack of character interaction

i wasn't huge on the first season so expectations weren't ALL TIME high, confident the actors will be alright, little worried about the story lines

I enjoyed the first season. Was like a book, in some ways.

Anyways, I'm gunna jump into Deautschland tonight. Post your thoughts when you've watched 'em.

You guys are being harsh on True Detective...

Second BJ is never as good as the first, but still gooooood...

It was a high bar. Not quite an upper echelon show for mine, but up there.

Not sure what to make of True Detective. Definitely living in the shadow of season 1.
The last scene of ep2 has added some interest and has drawn me in... Funny thing about that last scene was that I watched Birdman on Sunday.
I'm finding it really uneven in quality. Some of the scenes feel like they belong to one of the Law & Order franchises.....that scene in the clinic with the doctor for example.
I'll see it through, but I hope it improves.
On a side note. The opening credits are visually stunning, but that score is awful.

I thought episode two was better. It's got a few too many cliches for mine.

I love the cinematography and the way it makes the city feel like it's alive with a decayed heart.

Agree with all of that.

Most scenes are epic but there are, as you say, these weird Law and Order daytime drama scenes that just don't belong ...

Acting is very good by Farrell and Vaughn but McAdams is struggling. I really like her but she isn't establishing her character well
....

Still awesome show but the director is having some wtf moments, which I am blocking out for my own enjoyment and loyalty to the show.

FFS that briefing scene early on in the episode with the Asian guy and black woman was flat out embarrassing and hard to comprehend against some of the epic scenes like the opening and closing scenes.

The cinematography and way they create the atmosphere and City is awesome as Grizz says but there is just some lazy bits.

8/10 so far from me (but biased I know)

And Cmon McAdams get some confidence girl and own your character ...

Finally got to watch Mr Robot episode 2. After such a promising premiere, this second episode was psycho-babble crap. Will probably watch ep 3 & 4 in the hope it improves.

Dark matter is another with an interesting twist in the premiere but has descended into predictable sci-fi fare. Not too bad if you are into that sort of thing.

Thank god Strike Back has returned with season 5. And Falling Skies, well I'm watching just so that I can see the end-game.

think im gonna pass

Hahahah just finished watching the six episode season of Glitch.

It's like they forgot to make about 2 episodes to wrap up all the loose ends.

Nay, not even the loose ends, actually everything to do with the show. Like why?

Just pathetic.

Has some appalling acting too.

Very disappointing.
