Another bog for McCartin
GO SAINTERS

Reiwoldt to hang on and win a flag in 2018.

Sinclair. Reiwoldt. Membrey
Lonie. McCartin. Bruce

Beat that forwardline in 2018!!!

Beasts everywhere you turn who can all playground level too. :)

Do you like looking like an idiot?

certainly gives the impression of one, but i do wonder if its a troll acc

St Kilda has a 10M cap like most other teams

It has chose to spend 95% of that... With some on front ended deals.
In essence the overall list is probably not as good most other clubs... Possibly Carlton, Melbourne, Brisbane, Essendon are similar.
Only Melboune in that group are as well placed to improve
Hawthorn, Freo, Sydney are obviously at the very pointy end again due to age demographic

But, at the moment the list is very healthy, and when any club has a full list of its best 22 available. It should be competitive

If you look at the team
Fisher, Dempster, Gilbert, Ray, Montagna, Riewoldt, Schnieder all available... A rarity in the AFL to be that healthy
The side is actually quite experienced
Along with Armo, Steven, Weller, Bruce and Geary who are good age.. Not sure why it's surprising STK is tracking ok right now
Should have beaten the Dogs and Essendon, but stole Melbourne
Should be 6-7

Last year not so great... Injuries mean playing players not ready or up to it.Like McCartin vs Carlton this year.

That being said
Richo has the group playing to structure with buy in and good spirit. He's an outstanding coach.
But again, he has the cattle on the park to be able to do so.

The thing is
There are impending retirements...

but Billings, McCartin, Acres, Goddard, McKenzie, Templeton showing great signs going fwd
And well over 800k unused in the cap if needed,

St Kilda picked a few good young blokes (Billings, McKenzie, McCartin etc) in the last few drafts and Jack Steven/David Armitage will be elite midfielders and a midfield duo in years to come. Saints have moved on from Goddard/NDS and will be in pemiership contension in the next couple of years

Good on 'em. They've publicly stated they have a long term vision for the club. Ie: They haven't sought big names of recent years to top up their list. The way they are going about it would give their fans just as much joy as when they were genuine contenders I reckon.

we didn't steal Melbourne - they almost stole it from us. 1 goal 4 to 1-1 in last twenty five minutes with their scores coming in a one minute period against a tide of domination.
the three we should have won are:
GWS - saints with last five scores of the game 1-4, lost by 9 points;
Essendon - saints last five scores 1-4, lost by 2 points;
Dogs - saints last quarter 2-5 to 2-1, lost by 6 points.

get our kicking right to finish games off and we are top eight - not far away, but not there yet.

We've rarely had a failed rebuild, just haven't reached the top due to concessions to interstate teams.

Port beat us in 2004 due to AFL wanting them to win a flag. Before that it was the Crows keeping us down. More recently our fate was our own losing to Geelong and Collingwood fairly. Now our rebuild has been put back 4 years because of Gold Coast and West Sydney.

It's not just us either. Other Melbourne teams have been royally stuffed by expansion gifts giving advantage to teams outside Victoria (COLA for instance) lol Brisbane 3peat.

The time has come for Victorian teams to start winning flags.

Yeah, sick of all those interstate clubs hogging all the glory. In the last eight seasons, Victorian clubs have only won the 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2014 premierships.

Exactly, it would have felt like highway-robbery if we'd lost that game, as we practically owned the ball up our end in that last quarter (16 inside 50's to 6), after the scores were level at 3/4 time, but just failed to put one through the big sticks until that final 20 seconds.

We SHOULD be sitting in the 8

How did we lose to the dogs, (6 points) essendon (1 point) and GWS. We smashed em all but didnt kick striaght.

And carlton?? We dropped the effort there.
That was our worst performance.

Anyway yes the saints should be in the 8.

What?? So reiwoldt winning a flag is THAT impossible??
Why? These youngsters showing signs of guns. Reiwoldt not slowing down.
We get in 2 gun free agents and a few more gun picks and have a relatively injury free year in 2018 its very possible.

You have 2 games against us this year, consider yourselves lucky. You get an extra win.

No.

Can argue we got lucky against Melbourne and the Dogs first time round. We're having a good year but were positioned where we should be.

Yeah only if you discount the biased and incompetent umpiring in the Geelong Grand Final and that Collingwood had suspiciously elevated HGH levels. ;)

Is Daniel Markworth likely to stay on? Or have injuries got the better of him?
Hard to say. The club seem to rate him highly and keep on talking him up each year, but he really needs to stay out on the park for the remainder of the season and really show something in the VFL at a minimum, or you'd have to think he could be in trouble of being delisted.
