Surprised Motlop wasn't as well to be honest.

Those lists are bloody confusing

The Age list Mackie as 'Test' ,the Hun say 2-3 weeks
Cowan,Caddy,McCarthy,Bates aren't listed in the Hun,Brown is
I think the Hun had Bundy at 4-6,where as The Aged has 6-8

That's why it's best to take no notice of them.

I agree, we should just listen to Balmey and look forward to having a full healthy list to choose from in 2 weeks!!

So the unthinkable might be just about to become 'thinkable'.

Josh is listed as 'test' on this week's injury list on the AFL website...

Not holding my breath, of course, but hopeful...

Looking forward to some positive news Thursday night.:thumbsu:

Traditionally this type of announcement , is greeted with a "I'll believe it when he flies in on the Helicopter"

It all sounds rather familiar , spend half a season over coming several injuries , scramble to gain some fitness come back play some VFL , start looking good with about 4-6 weeks to go and be close to a debut at years end.

Not trying to sound like a pessimist, but I won't be surprised if I see the following on next Tuesday's injury update:

Josh Cowan - Hamstring - (Short Term)

;)

Hate to rain on the parade, but news is in that Cowan will miss the rest of 2014.

Will be first to be delisted I'm afraid. Best he can hope for now would be a rookie lifeline.

That is absolutely devastating.:(

But sadly all too predictable.

As catempire noted, believers like me can only hope for a rookie lifeline now.

Wish the lad everything good from here on. He certainly deserves it.

That's terrible news for him. The silver lining is (I guess) that it's the same injury he had last time, but on the other achilles. When they correctly diagnosed it and sent him to a specialist in Europe he recovered really quickly last time, so if they do rookie him he'd hopefully be fit for preseason.

And then ping ping ping will go the hamstring. Unfortunately for the lad his AFL dream is over.

Depends if they needed to use a graft at all and then if it were his hamstring or an allograft.

Yep, given how highly they appear to rate him you'd think a rookie spot would be quite possible.

Didn't have consistent hamstring problems prior to the achilles though - and I think the club even explicitly said when he started playing again last year that he was picking up injuries because he was working too hard, not because of some biomechanical flaw.

The thing in Cowan's favour is, I take it the problem in his Achilles was 'solved' by removing the part 'growing' into the Achilles and since then, it's been pain free. Now they need to do the same to the other Achilles.

There is an argument that the issue has been diagnosed, fixed in one so there's confidence it can be fixed in the other. And while the length of time taken to fix both counts against him, it's not a case of one problem area being fixed and failing over and over....

However, the hamstring injuries he's had are another matter.... I won't pretend to know if the Achilles issue would put stress on other parts of the body.

Snelling sounded upbeat about the surgery recovery time taking out the year but he should be ready to go for pre season training, however that doesn't mean everything/anything.

Yeah but no. Normally it would but it sounds like it's not the case here.
