Not that I would be overly upset if he had got a go but geez I can't believe how many are on the Klinger bandwagon.
The knives would be out quickly if he didn't score 100 in his first innings.

Klinger once being a Bushranger probably explains it.

At least half of it (including myself) is more due to the SMarsh selection

Just because 1 selection is bad, doesn't mean there is a reason to make another one though. Marsh isn't a great selection, but neither is Klinger based on what he has done in the past

Does 2 years make up for 8 of being fairly poor though? Not convinced. Would rather give someone else a go. We already have Voges, don't need another 34 year old.
But the problem is we are going for a 32 year old who is worse. If we are looking at it as purely a two test role until Khawaja is fit then we should be taking the player who is in the best form currently and that is Klinger not Marsh.

I wouldn't pick either one of them. Klinger is an average version of Voges, his stats back this up, and Marsh...well he shouldn't be near the side. Pick someone else, not that hard actually.

I don't see it as a bad selection. He is an experienced player who is currently in very good form (ave 91 this year and 58 last year). To me the selection should either have been the youth player (Bancroft, Hancombe, etc) to get experience, or the if you feel the team is already a bit inexperienced take the older guy who is in great form. Either way its a 2 game spot. Either reward form or give experience. Marsh does neither

He is an experienced player with a grand total of 4 out of 11 good seasons. It shows he has been very inconsistent throughout and his average shows that (around 39). We don't need Klinger unless it is an injury to Voges where you would consider going Klinger.

Yeah but things that were happening 10-11 years ago have pretty much no relevance any more in my mind. He is and has been for a couple of years in very good form. If you are not going to go for youth for what ever reason, then you should be going for the best performing player.

I would much rather play youth, and we definately don't need Voges and Klinger when you pick the better one in Adam Voges and work around him

Might be left field, but given how poorly M. Marsh has been batting and how well he has been bowling, could we drop Siddle, move Marsh down the order and play six specialist batsmen (bringing in someone like Ferguson, Stoinis or Handscomb?

The bowling line-up would then be Pattinson, Hazlewood, Marsh and Lyon. Then get a few overs out of Voges, maybe Stoinis if he is the one picked. Probably won't get a better chance than against a weak Windies.

I don't think you can pick Marsh as a front line bowler given his injury history. Especially if Pattinson is another member of the same attack.

How old is Ferguson? If we're gonna just play Shaun Marsh then **** it, go the Ferg.

He can't be any worse, at least he hasn't been given chance after chance like Shaun Marsh has.
