Why does Jake stringer keep getting overlooked for a rising star nomination

I'm surprised anyone's even questioning this, to be honest.

We all know why.

Why lose a moment's sleep over it. It's just the vibe, it's Mabo. It's just...the vibe.

Patton's team also lost yet that was good enough to win the award.

Calm down before you blow a woofer valve.
Patton "won" nothing. He earn't the weekly nomination to go in for the running of the award at the end of year.
It's just like being nominated for a TV Week Logie award.Lot's of people get nominated, doesn't mean they'll win anything.

Good comparison. Means about the same too.

I wouldn't worry about it - he's sure to kick at least another five on Sunday and get the nomination this week. Not like we're playing anyone decent, is it? ;)

Because he hasn't played that many good games? Stiff to not win it this week but it's not the end of the world.

How is Patton eligible though? Seems like he was drafted in 1992.
Under 21 at the start of the year, and had only played 10 games. Barely eligible as a third year player, but there you go. Seemed like Talia had been around forever when he won it in 2012.

So the rising Star committee listen to what the media say without bothering to check the qualification criteria themselves for their own award to see who is eligible and who is not.... Is that what your trying to say??

What an alarming thing to say because a player of your club does not get a nomination.

FWIW Stringer is eligible and while he has shown a bit in a few games so far others have pipped him to the post.
Wouldn't be a first that an AFL department tows to media line - I.e match review panel.

Maybe because he looks about 25.
Perhaps there's merit to this argument.

He's an overgrown, schoolyard bully of a footballer, and he'll be a Dad in less than a month's time.

He got a goal from the rushed behind free didn't he? Does it get much softer? Even if the free was there it's not like he did anything wonderful to get it?
It was deliberate, if you supporters and Rohan Bail had a look at the term "Prior Opportunity" you'd understand.

Probably because Patton was the key forward in an extremely close game against 2nd on the ladder, against a better backline, pulling the best defenders. And he has played a better & consistent season.
Essendon's back line is better than Geelong's. They kept 2 top 8 sides to 99 points combined the previous 2 weeks, one of them the second best attacking side in the AFL, and average 1 goal/game less than Geelong. In fact they're 1 of 3 teams to have less than 1300 points conceded this season.

Stringer deserved it this week, almost won it for them

Useless award.

Hopefully we don't see another meltdown of epic proportions like we did from West Coast fans when Heppell beat Shuey a couple of years ago

Much like Liberatore never getting a nomination and Clay Smith being overlooked for a 5 goal debut game.

Only fans supporting teams with nothing to play for care about Rising Star nominations.

Whether Stringer gets one or not will not impact the player he becomes (and likelihood to win actual meaningful awards) in the slightest
