Man, all of these byes suck. Williamstown seems to have a bye every five weeks or something along those lines so it's getting pretty boring now. Although it doesn't really matter now since it's time for round 17 of the 2012 VFL season. Williamstown plays host to Werribee in a rematch of the round 6 clash where Williamstown snuck out a 7 point victory after a horror opening quarter where they only managed 9 points to the Tigers' 48. Ling Jong, Tom Campbell and Tom Hill were amongst the best for the Seagulls alongside Jolley and Goodes.
Williamstown will want to avoid a slow start like that again and certain players will be playing for their careers. Justin Sherman may have stamped his papers following his last couple of weeks of effort while Hargrave will have to lift if he is to be kept on at the end of the year. Likewise Skinner and Hooper will want to have a big second half of the season so as to receive another contract.
I believe that the Seagulls will be more likely to walk out with the victory; our named ruckmen are of higher quality then Majak Daw while a combination of Roberts, Talia and Hargrave should more then compensate for their defense containing Ablett, Pedersen and McKinley. All three of their taller forwards have had solid seasons but none of them are really stand-out players. The Tigers have some qualiy mid-sized defenders in O'Dwyer, Mangan and Harding but the Seagulls tall timber in Jones, Campbell, Hill and Panos might be too much to overcome.
From the named bench, I predict the following five players to be named on the bench; Hill, Jong, Witkowski, Greenwood and Hooper. This gives two inside mids, two talls that can play at either end and a small that can play at either end as a crumber or as a small defender. I also expect that this game will be broadcast on VFL radio since it's the only game being played on Sunday.
