Nine Victorian AFL clubs have been cleared of alleged breaches of occupational health and safety but the Victorian WorkCover Authority's probe into Essendon and the AFL continues.

In June, the VWA, already investigating the Bombers over their peptides injecting program, received another complaint, calling for the remaining nine Victorian-based clubs to be investigated, with a focus on their sports science programs.

The complainant lodged paperwork with the VWA confirming Collingwood, Carlton, Geelong, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Richmond, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs as the clubs other than the Bombers that should be probed.

After an eight-month inquiry, the VWA revealed to Fairfax Media on Monday the investigation of the nine clubs, which had been represented by one law firm, was over.

"WorkSafe has completed an investigation into alleged health and safety breaches by nine Victorian-based AFL clubs and will take no further action," the VWA said in a statement.

"Separate investigations relating to the Essendon Football Club and the AFL are continuing, and it is inappropriate to comment further."

Interesting paragraph at the end.

This included an audit of all clubs' medical programs. The audit found that 12 clubs had recorded medium or high levels of supplement use and lacked "a single point of accountability", while players from nine clubs had individually procured supplements

The "interesting paragraph at the end" actually stated it was an AFL audit. That was previously done a fair while ago, with the same results published back then.

Of more interest, it sounds like the VWA has checked the other 9 Victorian clubs and they have been cleared. Only one club still under scrutiny. They're probably waiting on the current process to be completed before they hand down any finding. That's to be expected.

Yeh realised the audit later, is a section saying workcover likely be shaped by the tribunal findings.

I take it that the investigators are saying there needs to be a single record of supplements, but in the investigation of the other clubs the records were backed up by receipts... etc

Has it been determined who lodged the complaint, Martin, Bruce, James or some nut job supporter.
It was probably ASADA or some government agency.

They were investigating a while back, before Bruce was floating around.

Hird wouldn't do it because his a flog and knows he will get buried. While his supporters wouldn't do it because they think the golden child is telling the truth, and why would they take their club down?

Hardie would be protecting Essendon and Dank so he wouldn't either

I think there may have been 2 separate complaints, and complainants.

Bruce has released his about AFL and EFC. It was not quite sophisticated in style.

The one about all the clubs had the named redacted, but contained considerably more legalistic content. I still think this is a sea kayaker special.

The line about "a single point of accountability" was something the AFL came out with in their audit. I have always taken this as referring to there being one person who approves supplements, with that person presumably the club doctor.

It wasn't interesting last year when the AFL released these details, not sure why it would be interesting now.

Anyway, I want to know who made the request to WorkCover.

Bearing in mind both Little and Ziggy said there were little or no records kept........ What was the $2 mil fine from the AFL for?

VWS must send them a thank you for their assistance

How long did the audit take?

How long did the audit take?
It would have depended on how much evidence was available and the level of co-operation from each club. But without knowing when the complaint was made and then processed is anyone's guess. But it will come out under FOI
