World Poker Tour (WPT)

Aussie John Caridad busts in 4th place.
Gee, I hope he did a deal while chipleader.
Ivey looking to extend his career earning lead over Negreanu. Currently 440k ahead. Also 15th on the WPT list so will move up there. Will move to 11th with a 3rd ($363,650), 9th with a 2nd ($594,755) and 7th with a win ($875,150).
I bet he wishes it was a WSOP though.

Such s**t structures the WPT puts up. I'd get tilted playing such shitty events. So many breaks for the crew to change tapes etc, 60 minute levels, average 35 BBs heads-up. Little skill required to win once you make the final table. Then again, Joe Cada wasn't the epitome of skill at last year's WSOP. For me, the two best live events are the 50k Player's Championship and the WSOP Europe Main Event.

I like the WPT, I think the theatrics of the final table coverage makes people forget its a real tournament and not a made for TV shootout.

It has its problems but most tournaments do. The payouts are terrible imo, this 5 diamond is paying out 22%, wtf?

Season 9 promo.

John Caridad from Sydney is featured a couple times. He's the one that bets into Ivey at about 02:00.

 Kimberly Lansing and Melanie Iglesias

yeah Dunst seems like a pretty decent guy but his part was cringe worthy

Either way it will be good to hear something with some thought and analysis behind it rather than Sexton unable to get his head around the idea of bluffing and aggressive play

The whole thing looks much better. The WPT has always been average and I've never gone out of my way to watch it unless I knew of a decent final table but I'll look forward to this season

Down to 15, wouldn't mind seeing those in bold make the final table, especially Kirk:

1. Antonio Esfandiari - 2,680,000
2. John Racener - 1,900,000
3. Andrew Robl - 1,750,000
4. Kia Mohajeri - 1,694,000
5. Kirk Morrison - 1,545,000
6. Luis Velador - 1,423,000
7. Sorel Mizzi - 1,380,000
8. Ray Dehkharghani - 1,148,000
9. Andrew Lichtenberger - 915,000
10. Vanessa Rousso - 888,000
11. Chris DeMaci - 801,000
12. Amit Makhija - 756,000
13. Ted Lawson - 400,000
14. Danny Fuhs - 247,000
15. Charles Caris - 125,000

Had a feeling Racener would chew his way to the final table:

Seat 1. Antonio Esfandiari - 2,105,000 (35 bb)
Seat 2. Vanessa Rousso - 5,830,000 (97 bb)
Seat 3. Ted Lawson - 635,000 (10 bb)
Seat 4. John Racener - 3,235,000 (53 bb)
Seat 5. Kirk Morrison - 2,650,000 (44 bb)
Seat 6. Andrew Robl - 3,210,000 (53 bb)

Looking forward to seeing this when it comes out.

Would have been nice to see chewy rather than Ted Lawson. If you read through the WPT updates, Esfandiari was lucky to get through. From big chip leader to life support, but managed to hang on.

Vanessa's first WPT final table, I think her best before was 7th. No female has ever won a WPT title, amazing after 9 seasons.

And also, Melanie Iglesias is the perfect woman.

How many times can you say it's been a good year already?

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=212

Just this year, Seiborg has won a 250k BI event, a 100k BI event (also has a 3rd), two 25k BI events (also has a 4th), and on a bad day, took 2nd in a WPT event.

5.6m within 5 months! He could top the 2011 money list without even cashing in the WSOP Main Event, that's probably never happened.

No wonder Bellagio is copping it. 413 entries for one of the biggest poker tournaments of the year. How many get paid? Maybe 40-45 for around 10%? Maybe a little more, perhaps 6 tables or 54 players, about 12.5% of the field?

https://twitter.com/#!/wptliveupdates/status/144622435600306176

They did this last year also. In 2009, 329 entries and 27 paid (8.2%).

The PPA should demand that payout structures be announced at the time the tournament schedule is released.

Nice hand, sir.

Luis Velador raised to 2,000 from early position, another player called Chris Klodnicki called on the button, John Smith called from the small blind, and Scott Clements called from the big blind.

The flop came down 9-9-8 and Smith schecked. Clements bet 6,000 and action folded to Klodnicki, who made it 15,000 to play. Smith folded and Clements reraised to 28,500 total. Klodnicki fired back, making it an additional 15,000 to play. Clements moved all-in for around 110,000 total and Klodnicki called, having Clements covered.

Klodnicki showed 8-8 for eights full of nines. Clements trailed with 9-10 suited for trip nines. The case 8 on the turn gave Klodnicki quad eights and left Clements drawing to a single out.

That out came with the case 9 on the river, giving Clements a better set of quads and the gigantic pot.

Scott Clements - 220,000
Chris Klodnicki - 33,000
