Why do they play the league in summer?
Well its very difficult to play cricket in " summer" here. We get 1.5 - 2 metres of rain between november and march. Never mind you cant play in that rain, preparing pitches is close to impossible.

So cricket is played in the dry season. Also well named. It rarely rains. Once every 5 yrs or so.

Given the ground sharing, ntfl is in the wet.

It also has the benefit of getting some decent players into thr league. In the bad old days, some really really decent players. Guys like dale lewis, ken hunter, etc played here. Even this year there are some very well credentialed footballers here.

anyone watching this season's games covered by AFLNTV ON YouTube? I've enjoyed the games I've watched. Lack of commentary is a shame, though Southern Districts v Tiwi Bombers has Grant Hansen calling it maybe?
 
You'd then see the "we should draft player x from the NTFL in the rookie draft, he shows some pace and flair worth the punt"
