Not picking Fyfe or Goldy

s**t season bookmarked by a great rd1 and rd22 , to fall to 73k after being 1200th week 1 is *en CRIMINAL.

This is my first year, real learning curve. Didn't use anything really for help (besides watching the nab cup) until the byes, next year I won't do stupid stuff like trading premos after 2 bad games

How do you know your final ranking when the round isn't even over yet?

NOTES -
4th year doing SuperCoach and easily my best. Learnt not to be so trigger happy with my trades and back the good players to come good.
Instead of doing s**t sideways trades (eg. Newnes to someone) I'd just trade a maxed out rookie or an injured player. Also found that there is literally no point having players who cost high 200s-low 300s.
It's a good idea to trade hard around the byes too, i set my team up pretty well in the byes which enabled me to not trade much in the 2nd half of the year.
After the byes my lowest score was 2313, which was today due to copping a 0.
Good year!

On reflection, I got a bit lost with such a high early ranking.

I paid far too much mind to the BYE rounds, bringing in guys like Pittard, Yeo, Ziebell and Amon (All Round 13 players) to try to navigate the Byes better.

If I ever find myself anywhere near the top again, I'll try to avoid the groupthink.

Definitely the year that I've learnt the most about SC, really glad that it's all over now.

Congrats to all of those who are happy with their seasons.

BEST TRADE - Lonie --> Dahlhaus (rd 12). In hindsight, all of my trades were mediocre at best.

WORST TRADE
- Gibson --> Hibberd. Just f@$&ing stupid.

HEROES - Heath Shaw and Todd Goldstein. Scott Pendlebury won me 4 GF's

VILLANS -

Hibberd and Docherty - Key to my stinky backline

McGrath, Anderson and Goodes - Marginal, but the only 2 starting rookies who I didn't "nail"

NOTES -
Pretty happy with my year overall. Started strongly, after round 4 I started "upgrading" my team and went backwards until round 19 where I ran out of trades, but moved up the overall rankings every week.(from 2,552 to 855 at the finish).

Spent 1 week in the top 100, which is one week longer than any other year.

Only 1 doughnut all year!!!

Finally got justification in leaving Swan out of my team all year, I just had to wait until rd 23 to say "I told you he'd miss ... a game"

Second year in a row where I did a panic trade in round 2 which I regretted all year.

Thanks to all for providing banter all year folks, see you all in the pre-season (which starts next week doesn't it?)

BEST TRADE - Lycett > Goldstein

WORST TRADE
- Ablett > Van Berlo

HEROES - Bont, Heath Shaw, Goldy, Max Gawn, Gray

VILLANS - Brodie Smith, M Johnson, Sloane, Bartel, Ablett

NOTES.
- Brought in B.Smith round 3 as it looked like he was on then head clash and had to carry him all year.
- Bartel, Sloane, Ablett, Johnson all made of glass.
- Starting with Lycett as he looked good to break out. Played 4 games then was dropped.
- Too much CARNAGE to ever get settled and was playing catch up going into the bye rounds.
- Not starting with Goldy, H.Shaw, Hodge.

+ Starting and keeping an awesome FWD line. Gray, Swan, Lids, Martin, Bont. With Bartel and Clark out for Krak and Tarrant. Made plenty and was secure all year.
+Brought in Lambert, Steele, Gawn, McKenzie for the DPP and it worked well for Byes and late in the season.
+All major trades were keepers and perfomers. Shaw, Hodge, McDonald, Priddis, Gaff, JPK, Parker, Goldy.

Had my best year yet. Really the first year I have concentrated only on SC and left my DT/FANTASY teams alone.
Scored my highest ever round score of 2782.
Didn't break my computer into a million pieces.
Pretty happy and enjoyable SC season. Many thanks to everyone here for being a part of it.

2016 I await thee.

INJURIES -
Ablett(x2) Sloane(x2) Rocky(x2) MJ Mumford Parker Buddy Hodge Fyfe

SUMMARY -
-started season with PODS MJ & Mumford whom both suffered LTI.
-chose Griffen over Danger as starting m5. Huge mistake.
-avoided early season spud favorites like Newnes Lumumba VanBerlo
-held Cripps Touk & EYC for full value
-starting with Shaw Hodge Goldy = WIN!
-endured Gaj>Sloane>Rocky circle jerk. Wasted trades.
-PB score of 2663
-PB rank of 270(rd4)
-Overall I had my most consistent year. Ranking hovered under 3k between rounds 3-11 & under 2k between rds 11-22. As theOz likes to say, injuries and vaginas got me in the end. Final few weeks brutal.

BEST TRADE - Bartel and Sheed to Bontempelli and Adams on the bubble in round 4 = 2 keepers, Jasper Pittard to Tom McDonald in round 16 was not bad also, TMac performed the first 3 weeks of finals and was better than Taylor

WORST TRADE
- upgrading Heeney to Pittard :$.........Rockliff and Sloane getting injured straight after I trade them in is up there too

HEROES - Starting with Heath Shaw, Fyfe and Dependlebury. Todd Goldstein, Stefan Martin, Max Gawn, Jelwood after I traded him in at bottom barrel price  solid return, Mitch Wallis was great too after I got him in and won me some important finals

LAIRDY!!!!!!!!!!!!
:hearts::hearts::hearts::hearts::hearts::hearts::hearts:

VILLANS - Jelwood captain that cost me prelims , Sloane and Rockliff can GAGF, Jimmy Bartel can GAGF, Travis Boak is a hack, Andrew Swallow was a spud then I traded him out and got Rockliff who got injured then I ended up with Boak for the rest of the year , Whitecross was a s**t trade in too and Tom Bellend worst ruck pick ever traded his ass out through the byes 3 months of s**t from him.

RYAN FARKIN GRIFFEN AND HARRY s**t TRUCK GENITALIA :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

NOTES
s**t year, ended up with my highest ranking for the year in round 23 from having the most consistent patch towards the end of the season scoring between 2298-2591 from rounds 15-23 (2 x 2500s, 2 x 2400s, 4 x 2300s, 1 x 2298) with having enough bench cover and a durable yet under-performing backline helped. Harry Taylor was the worst defensive culprit after averaging 95 from the first 6 weeks, he didn't give a s**t afterwards, horrible starting pick and ended up being my D6, Newnes was decent in the end but his poor start to the year didn't help my rankings early.

Copping 3 donuts between rounds 7-10 killed my season with the 1919 in round 7 making me fall 12,000 spots that week.

I will never start with mid priced ruck options again, Zac Smith and Tom Bellend were horrible starting picks, set and forget types in there only next year, Maxy Gawn step up son you're in my starting team next year. Dunno if Todd Goldstein is worth the 700k next year, I reckon he overperformed to be honest lol, Gawn and Martin I reckon will do.

Very disappointed with Ryan Griffen and Andrew Swallow, they're never again and were horrible cheap options, I got what I paid for there I guess. Travis Boak and Jack Ziebell are hacks who can't hit a target also, strictly Dreamteam only with these two. Horrible starting choices ruined my year whether through injury like Bartel, or s**t form like Bellend, Griffen and Taylor, it took too long to fix these problems up. Getting rid of Griffen for Neale was a great decision in the end though as Griffen hurt himself the week after I traded him out.

Looking forward to next year, Gazza and Rocky lock and load baby :drunk::rainbow::cool:

TEAM NAME - Gnork Gnork Nimmos

FINAL RANKING - 12,198

SEASON HIGH RANK - 11,361 (round 16)

HIGHEST WEEKLY RANK - 857 (round 22, score of 2443)

LOWEST WEEKLY RANK - 65,508 (round 19, score of 2248)

HIGHEST WEEKLY SCORE - 2,496 (round 18)

LOWEST WEEKLY NON-BYE SCORE - 1,965 (round 4)

LOWEST "PREMO" PLAYER SCORE - Michael Johnson -3

BEST TRADE - ??? Struggling to pick one. Probably McGovern to Bontempelli in Rd 13.

WORST TRADE
- Bontempelli > McGovern > Bontempelli through the byes. Just cop the doughnut you ******* idiot. Or Newnes out after Rd 6. Take your pick.

USED MY LAST TRADE - round 18

HIGHEST TEAM VALUE - $13,761,700 (round 23)

BIGGEST REGRET - Trading in Brodie Smith after Rd 3 at top $.

NEVER AGAIN - Didn't really have any as I know the major spuds to avoid but for the sake of this I'll go McGovern or Titch Edwards.

MIGHT PICK NEXT SEASON DESPITE THEM BURNING ME - Brodie Smith

HEROES -
+ Swan, frustrated with a few 70's but ultimately was very good for the year.
+ Titchell, when Horse gave you a chance you were SC gold. Not your fault.
+ Callum Sinclair performed his F6 / R2 role quite adequately when called upon.
+ Laird, Picken, Kolo, Deledio all very good performers over the long haul
+ Bontem-friggin-Pelli, what a superstar you are.
+ Patty Cripps, only 2nd to The Bont
+ Heath Shaw, one shining light down back. Should've rewarded you with a few VC's in hindsight, next year ol' buddy.

VILLAINS -
Not enough bandwidth on the internet.
+ Ablett. Screw you.
+ Sloane. Get into Ablett's camp.
+ Brodie Smith. We all know it, doesn't need to be said.
+ John Longmire. For Titchell.

INJURIES (2 or more consecutive weeks) - Deledio, Ablett X 2, Sloane (held him through his first injury), Smith, Heeney, Jong, Salem, Clark, Vandenberg, Rockliff, Johnson, Krakouer, McGovern, Edwards, Saad, Beams, Parker, Fyfe (or something close to that order)

Notes - Such a vanilla team. No standout bad trades, no standout great trades. Even without the imperial *tonne of injuries I probably would've only just pushed for top 5k.
+ Refused to believe that Dangerfield was all that and a bit, should've traded him in after Rd 5 when he was bottom $ but still scoring decent, instead went Pendlebury. That extra $110k could've gone to a lot of places.
+ Had initial backline of Shaw, Hodge, Higgins, KK, Saad, Oxley, McIntosh, N.Brown. Instead went with Shaw, Johnson, Newnes, Geary, Goodes, N. Brown, KMac, Oxley (and then traded out Newnes before he got form). Trust your gut, numpty.
+ No starting with mid-pricers for me next year. They either don't score well enough for you to keep up with the front-runners, or don't make you enough money to do anything useful with them. Only genuine premos or those with injury discounts, or below the $160k mark for me in 2016 (guys like Patty Cripps will be an exception).

LOWEST WEEKLY SCORE - 1934 (R1)
LOWEST BYE SCORE - 1659 (R13)

BEST TRADE - Griffen > Treloar in R8 or CEY > Danger R6

WORST TRADE - Cripps > Bont in R2. Bont has been great but I shouldn't have gotten rid of Cripps.

USED MY LAST TRADE - Ablett > Priddis R18

HIGHEST TEAM VALUE - $13,687,300

NEVER AGAIN - Hibberd, Griffen, Kelly (retired though)

HEROES
- Backline duo of Heater and Newnes :hearts: , Goldy, Pendles, Fyfe, Dusty, Gray, Danger, NicNat and the Bont.

VILLAINS - Hibberd, Griffen the main 2. McKernan and Kelly also spuds. Buddy as well.

Bad start to the year apart from R2, ranked 8.5k after 7 rounds. Great middle of the year (R8-16) peaking a 531 in the rankings before a disastrous finish ending in 7 consecutive ranking drops in R17-23.
