There are no problems in going to the gym everyday if you're a beanpole wanting to put on muscle. I know I wanted to when I was 184/66.

Oh yeah, I'm not denying that I have some seriously gay tendencies, but I think if you are willing to make a serious difference to your body in terms of strength/muscle gains (which is incredibly difficult), whatever inspires you inspires you. I can't see any problem with going to gym to look good and build self-esteem, how many other reasons are there? It's also a good way to burn frustration/stress.
Now if I was a real movie star earning millions, I'd pump as much iron as the studio and director wanted, but I'm not, and it was eating in to my free time. I'm strong enough to do my job and enjoy my hobbies, so I didn't see the point in continuing. Now you may see that as me bailing on it and that's not what men do, but I'm not one for "aesthetics"
Of course I think my hair is a gay tendency, I said that in my OP.
Have you ever considered you do this because you have an inbuilt lack of confidence?I'm in the category who would confuse you then. I get my haircut regularly (by a gay guy incidentally, because he's the best around by a mile), I dress in expensive/designer clothing, always conscious of wearing nice cologne and looking the part. Although I do well with girls as it is, I'm still really determined to look better all the time, so I'm in the gym 4-5 days a week and eat like a maniac - slowly bulking up.
It is definitely partly to attract girls, I'm 22 and single so picking up good-looking girls is half the fun in going out/away. But it is also in an attempt to look as good as I possibly can, and know that I have the determination to work hard in the gym, keep the right sort of diet to garner results, and improve consistently. It is incredibly satisfying seeing the results, and catching up with mates you haven't for a while and impressing them.
I understand what you're saying though, but to me looking good and working hard to look even better = confidence and a greater ability to enjoy yourself in social situations.
I act
The hair or the band? This has declined into nothing more than a "Hairist" rant thread.....
Flock of Seagulls anyone?
Bad, but still not as bad as the hipster cut. This has declined into nothing more than a "Hairist" rant thread.....
Flock of Seagulls anyone?
The only time a man makes an effort with his appearance is when it is less bothersome than listening to his significant other's nagging.
Location: Darwin, explains alot.
Sorry, isn't NTTAWWT and gay the exact same thing?
I don't see why people are hating on guys that actually want to look good? As someone who suffers from moderate social anxiety I do everything I can to boost my confidence, dressing well and cutting and styling my hair. I don't see the problem, I probably spend less time then alot of people in this thread to get ready.
And Darwin my hair is fine (my hair looks similar to the photo below) and I shop in the men's department also, you obviously know little about metro/hipster clothing.
Have you ever considered you do this because you have an inbuilt lack of confidence?
And the bit about impressing your mates?
Tip: they're men. They probably don't care.
No, not really. I play acoustic and sing, so I play gigs by myself in front of a lot of people.
Those two sentences are sort of at odds with each other. I sort of do agree with "why not?" but I'm always suspicious of gym bandits for a variety of reasons.I don't lack confidence at all. If it makes you feel good, why not?
Have you ever considered you do this because you have an inbuilt lack of confidence?
Setal petal. And this post... this just annoys me. What if he does do that because of an inbuilt lack of confidence? So what? Going to the gym would be great for him in this case. You having a go at him because he has an inbuilt lack of confidence? Plenty of people do have that...
bunsen you're a bit of a knob really. Of course everyone wants to look as good as they can when they get up in the morning. It's better than looking s**t. There's a difference between putting some effort into your appearance and just plain looking like a ****wit. I put effort into what I wear but I don't look like a hipster ******.
