Post Pre-Season Indications
Posted by JamieJohnstone - 16 Mar 2010 11:30 PM - 6 Comments

Adelaide – Cruelled by injuries so not much of genuine significance to take from this but in guys like Vince, Dangerfield, Tippet and Walker they have quality galore. Even if their luck deserts them this season, they have plenty to look forward to.

Brisbane – They’ll have learned that bringing Fev up north doesn’t mean his problems have been left behind. Didn’t really do enough either way to get a good read on how they will go as the winter progresses. My suspicion is that they’ll be thereabouts...click here to read more...

Wake Up And Smell The Internet

This place has been in the news lately, notably with the Geelong Football League and the coach of the St Albans, Peter Davenport, threatening legal action over posts that were made here.

This follows a piece in the Sunday Hun regarding rumours that were posted here about allegations regarding infidelity between...click here to read more...

Dobbergate
Posted by JamieJohnstone - 10 Mar 2010 12:15 AM - 29 Comments

I’m going to ignore the AFL’s typically hyperbolic and ill-thought drug stuff until later in the week and instead quickly address the growing sensation of Travis Cloke allegedly having done the dirty on Jake King, or “Dobbergate” as I’m calling it.

This Herald Sun piece spells out the various accusations quite nicely. It has to be...click here to read more...

Am I the only one who is a bit suspicious of the whole Fev and Lara Bingle photo so-called scandal?

Predictably, Caro Wilson has weighed into the debate and with even drearier predictability, so has Phil Cleary. The only thing lacking is an answer to whether thiss is another installment of Fevgate,...click here to read more...

Captain Predictions 2010
Mar 18, 2010 - 3:14 PM - by Greystache
The AFL has today completed the annual survey of AFL captains prediction for the up coming season. Most of the results are relatively predictable with a couple of outliers (one predicted Geelong to miss the finals, another predicted Hall to win the Brownlow!)

The results were as follows;

Seven other clubs will make this year's top... [Read More]

All the pressure is on the bulldogs this year, how will they handle it?
Mar 18, 2010 - 3:11 PM - by Fear0411
Favourates for the flag

have players favourates for the brownlow, coleman and MVP

seems everyone thinks this is their year.

How do you think they will handle this pressure?

Hawthorn Flag year didnt have pressure on them because they were the underdogs and they won

Geelongs 2009 campaign had pressure but not as much as st kilda and they won

Can go either way but

all the pressure was on hawks in 2009 and... [Read More]

Most sporting moment on the field?
Mar 18, 2010 - 2:35 PM - by Foot Tickler
What is the most sportsman-like moment you've seen on the field?

I vaguely remember Essendon playing Collingwood, Ramanaskus was playing in that game and his opponent took a very heavy hit. So heavy that Rama was very concerned about his status, checked up on him and signaled a medico to come. I thought that was a very nice gesture.

Midfield comparison
Mar 18, 2010 - 12:18 PM - by Sttew
A few years ago comparisons between Brisbane's midfield and Geelong's were described as ill timed because Geelong hadn't enjoyed enough on field success to be compared with the Brisbane midfield machine of Voss, Black, Power, Lappin et al. Is it time to compare now?

Melbourne weak reaction in the 2000 Grand Final..........
Mar 18, 2010 - 12:16 PM - by Rooiginal
Thinking back to the 2000 Grand Final we witnessed one of the games most gutless and dangerous assaults on a Footballer possible. Michael Longs head high assault on Melbourne's Troy Simmonds while is head was over the ball was disgraceful.

What was more disgraceful was the collective response by his Melbourne teamates. Aside from the Ox it was completely pathetic. Had that of happened... [Read More]

Favourite club colours combination
Mar 18, 2010 - 11:57 AM - by Lance Uppercut
another classic from the Off-Season Thread Files (please god, let the season start soon!):

What are your favourite team colour combinations? You CANNOT nominate your own team

For mine, the Red, White & Blue of the Bullies is a classic colour combo you can't go past. So many ways you can make it look good. Surprising for a team I used to... [Read More]

Who are the best balkers/dummy sellers you've ever seen play the game?
Mar 18, 2010 - 11:50 AM - by DidakDelight
For me it would have to be the one and only mighty Mick McGuane.
Could balk with the footy in his left hand or right hand and almost always to good effect.

Here is a couple of examples

What would you rather?
Mar 17, 2010 - 9:53 PM - by Meow
Your team dominates the season and shits it in in the Grand Final, or your team finishes 2-5, goes in as the underdog, and wins the flag?
I would rather the latter on any day of the week. The feeling after a win like that would be amazing IMO.

Why was the Tim Watson thread deleted??

Yet you keep up a thread speculating that players have shaved heads to avoid positive drug tests.
