Dobbergate

I’m going to ignore the AFL’s typically hyperbolic and ill-thought drug stuff until later in the week and instead quickly address the growing sensation of Travis Cloke allegedly having done the dirty on Jake King, or “Dobbergate” as I’m calling it.
This Herald Sun piece spells out the various accusations quite nicely. It has to be... click here to read more...

Am I the only one who is a bit suspicious of the whole Fev and Lara Bingle photo so-called scandal?
Predictably, Caro Wilson has weighed into the debate and with even drearier predictability, so has Phil Cleary. The only thing lacking is an answer to whether thiss is another installment of Fevgate,... click here to read more...

We The People

I came across this piece in The Observer online by Simon Kuper, a football (as in soccer) finances expert.
Given the state of English football, and the insistence by so many here that footy is a business first etc, I thought it worth posting.
Some telling insights into the logical outcome of the 'football is a business' mindset, albeit with the obvious differences in the make-up and culture between Australian Rules and the English... click here to read more...

The Third Way

It was inevitable that the issue of third-party deals would stick its head above the parapet as this unique year in off field footy stuff began to gain momentum.
Chris Judd’s deal with Visy has long been the subject of raised eyebrows and sniggers but nobody has ever questioned its fundamental legitimacy. It may not look pretty but it appears to be within the rules.
Yet now things are changing. The AFL has a long history of managing its affairs on the fairly ancient and basic, yet undoubtedly effective, tactic... click here to read more...

NOT OVER YET - Geelong v Saints |
|
Mar 12, 2010 - 1:37 AM - by Bart Wilson

Ok since 2004 Geelong v St kilda has been on. Safe to say Geelong are leading and it looked to be over at end of 2007 then again at end of 2008 ... With
St kilda turning it around in 2009 (like geelong did 2007) things got interesting again. Now after the 2009 grand final a lot would say its done and dusted ... HOWEVER i put it to you IF the saints win BACK to BACK... [Read More]

Luke Ball confesses |

Luke Ball on the Footy Show has just put the argument to bed as to why he left StKilda. Ball admitted himself he knew he wasnt good enough to make the Saints best 22 going forward. To many players of his style were now in front of him so he had little choice but to move on.

Hands up who won't be watching the NAB cup. |

After reading so much garbage about who and who doesn't want the Pre season comp I'd like to know who won't be watching the Nab GF.
Who won't be watching the game being played by two of the sides that will most likely make up the top 4 this year with both sides fielding their best available.?
This will be interesting...will sort out the bs artists from the fair dinkum footy fans.
Put your hand up if you won't be watching. ... [Read More]

In the 15 seasons since the first Final 8 finals series ended in 1994 all of the following are true...
1) At least one side has fallen from the Top 4 to missing the finals the next year on 11 occasions
2) At least one side has come from outside the finals to the Top 4 on 14 occasions
3) At least one side has come from the Bottom 4 to make the finals on 13 occasions

Only a psychiatrist could write the true biography of Thomas Wentworth Wills....the tragic figure who lit the flame that started the game. Born in NSW south west of Sydney 1835. His family of convict origin moved from their home in George Street Sydney to settle in Parramatta west of Sydney.
Who would believe that it would take almost another 180 years before an Australian Football club would be formed to represent his place of birth? Tonite on Sports Tonight Dr Greg de... [Read More]

Footy tipping "secrets" |

Lets have them folks.
I have one which is rule No 1 for office tipping comps
"You dont have to get 8 every week you just need more than anyone else"
First you need to have a good idea who the popular tips are - the tips in the paper will give a clue to this. Some online comps even tell you which teams are most heavily tipped - it's not always the same as the media tips. If so wait as long as possible to get the best feedback.
