So it’s the sort of halfway mark of the NFL season and in my opinion it’s gone way too quick. This week saw MVP candidates turn the ball over and left Peyton standing all alone in the Most Valuable Peyton award. Sunday started off early with a trip to the other side of the pond and then football all day to cap off a brilliant day for some and a demoralising day for others (this writer included).

Emmaunuel Sanders felt left out in the touchdown-a-thon that Peyton Manning has been holding so to even things up Peyton threw three his way. Philip Rivers went from a red-hot favourite for the MVP to being a dark horse in a weeks’ worth of play as the Broncos and Manning showed their credentials for being the best team in the AFC. (21-35) Broncos

Football started early on Sunday (Monday for us Aussie viewers) with Atlanta and Detroit from Wembley Stadium. It was looking good for Falcon and Packer fans early on with the Falcons taking a 21-0 halftime lead. But true to NFC South tradition this season the Falcons ballsed it up and went down to the nine lives Lions who manage to find wins behind their tremendous defensive line. (22-21) Lions

So the Vikes and Bucs played. It went to overtime……. and yeah. Ask @Sven about the game, the resident Viking fan for a recap of the game because he was the only one who watched. (19-13) Vikings

So if you’re new to the NFL season of 2014 you might be aware the New York Jets are bad. After this performance it’s painfully obvious they are bad. The Jets turned the ball over six times and then Kyle Orton threw four TD passes to cement a strong Bills win. Sammy Watkins also presented a strong case of OROY. (43-23) Bills

The Bears were supposed to be an offensive juggernaut this year. Someone must’ve forgotten to tell the Bears this. To be fair it’s not the offenses fault, the defence couldn’t stop a leaky tap at the rate it’s going. Tom Brady had a field day on the Bears defence and Rob Gronkowski looked like he was playing against high schoolers as they decimated the Bears secondary. Julian Edelman you scored 5 points in a 30pt win, you suck. (23-51) Patriots

The Panthers looked like they had turned a corner defensively then Russel Wilson happened. With 47 seconds left Wilson threw a TD to Luke Wilson (not to be confused with Owen Wilson or his less famous but more famous than NFL Luke Wilson brother Luke Wilson). The Seachickens after ditching Percy Harvin during the week scraped out a win to keep the 12th Man happy, but will it last? (13-9) Seahawks

I thought Blake Bortles had potential but at the rate he is going he’s simply going to be another Blaine Gabbert (seriously it took me 5 minutes to remember his name). It’s sad because I like the Jags, they have a solid defence and an ok offence that is let down by a rookie QB. The Dolphins simply capitalized on the mistakes of the Jags and punished them. (27-13) Dolphins

So after sucking for the better half of a month the Bengals pulled out an unlikely win against a hot Ravens team. The win also put the Bengals back into the lead of the AFC North that is suddenly looking very cluttered with no team looking completely dominant so far. (24-27) Bengals

Zach Mettenberger started for the Titans signalling the end of Jake Locker in Tennessee. To celebrate he took some ‘selfies’ on the sideline to start the game. J.J. Watt didn’t appreciate this so he decided to destroy the Titans. Seriously if you’re going to post ‘selfies’ before a game you need to be on Peyton, Brady, Brees or Rodgers level before you start doing that. Not a punk rookie. (30-16) Texans

After their uplifting win last week against the Seahawks the Rams came crashing to earth against the Chiefs. It wasn’t pretty as he Chiefs dominated in all facets of the game in order to maintain touch in the race for the play-offs. (7-34) Chiefs

In what was probably the game of the round the Arizona Cardinals found another way to sneak out a victory as Carson Palmer found John Brown for a 75 yard TD strike with 1:21 remaining. For a team decimated on defence by injuries the Cardinals keep on finding ways to win. Honestly I hope they keep on going as they are one of the most entertaining teams to watch when they are on. Serious questions need to be asked of the Eagles running game though. (20-24) Cardinals

In their Aaron Hernanez inspired jerseys the Pittsburgh Steelers, more specifically Ben Roethlisberger murdered the Colts defence to the tune of 522 yards and 6 TDs. Big Ben also became the first QB to go over the 500yd mark twice. The Colts’ hot streak came to a stunning end as the hot and cold Steelers put on a performance not to forget. (34-51) Steelers

So the Browns and Raiders faced off against each other. This game rated on the Vikings v Bucs game on the who cares level. The game would’ve been more entertaining on Madden.  (13-23) Browns

So Drew Brees threw 7 INTs as the Packers won 105-7, wait that was me playing in Madden…. In RL Brees dominated the Packers defence to continue on the trend of the Saints winning by over 20pts in Sunday Night games. Aaron Rodgers tweaked a hammy then threw 2 INTs to send Packer Nation into panic mode. (23-44) Saints

Not only was the supposed Dallas Cowboys freight train stopped, it was stopped by Colt McCoy in primetime to really show up the Cowboy bandwagon. DeMarco Murray yet again racked up the yards but he also committed his 5th fumble of the season. Tony Romo suffered an injury to his back but was replaced by Brandon Weedon who played surprisingly well only to be replaced by Romo who unsurprisingly played terribly to lose the game in overtime. (20-17) Redskins

Things to look forward to in Week 9:

  1. Brady v Manning
  2. Who is going to take the NFC by the scruff of the neck
  3. Can anyone in the AFC keep up with the Broncos
  4. Will the NFC South keep sucking?
  5. Will Dallas fall in a hole?
