Rising Star Nomination

Essendon’s Ben Hobbs has been named the Round 14 NAB Rising Star nominee.

The 18-year-old had a career-high 22 disposals, four inside-50s, and five marks in his side’s 35-point win over St Kilda.

Hobbs had eight score involvements, 310 metres gained, and laid two tackles.

The mid-forward is Essendon’s second NAB AFL Rising Star nominee this season, following Nic Martin’s nomination in Round 1.

Since making his debut in Round Five this season, Hobbs hasn’t missed a game for the red and black.

Across his nine games, Hobbs has kicked 5 goals and averages 4.7 marks and 15.7 disposals per game.

Hobbs was drafted from the Greater Western Victoria Rebels to Essendon with the 13th pick in the 2021 NAB AFL National Draft.

He played Auskick in Horsham before joining the Horsham Demons in the Wimmera Football League.
