After two years of virtual AFL Community Camps, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program is set to return to its in-person format for the 2023 season. Over 700 AFL players will visit regional communities across the country to meet fans, inspire the next generation, and participate in local events.

This marks the 21st year of the AFL Community Camp program, which includes school visits, NAB AFL Auskick Super Clinics, and community events, giving fans the chance to meet AFL players and coaches. The AFL Community Camp program has reached over one million children through school and club visits since its establishment in 2003.

Rob Auld, AFL Executive General Manager of Game Development, expressed his excitement for the return of the program and the impact it will have on local communities: “In 2023, AFL clubs and players have an exciting opportunity to get back to meeting fans and giving back to communities through the AFL Community Camp program… Local towns and communities across the country are so important to the game and the AFL Community Camps program is a fantastic platform for our elite players and coaches to spend time in communities, which can have a significant positive impact.”

The AFL Community Camps will take place in February and early March, ahead of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season. The AFL would like to thank the clubs, players, and staff for their role in bringing back the Community Camps, as well as the local communities for their welcoming and hosting efforts.
