Carlton midfielder George Hewett has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the Blues until at least the end of 2027.
Hewett has been in superb form this season, averaging 27.8 disposals, 6.7 clearances, and nearly six tackles per game – all career-best numbers. His dominant Round 6 performance against North Melbourne, which included 34 disposals, 12 clearances and nine tackles, earned him the inaugural SuperClash Superhero Medal for best on ground.
Backed up by a 29-disposal, eight-tackle effort the following week against Geelong, including a vital final-quarter goal, Hewett has cemented himself as a key figure in the Blues’ midfield.
Currently ranked sixth in the AFL for effective disposals and among the top ten for contested possessions and clearances, Hewett’s impact has been both elite and consistent. He also leads the club in disposals, handballs, and goal assists, while sharing top spot for tackles with Patrick Cripps.
Carlton’s Head of List Management Nick Austin praised Hewett’s re-signing: “George’s form has been outstanding this year. He’s a reliable, selfless player who leads by example, and we’re thrilled he’ll continue to be a key part of our journey.”
