I have already said I wouldn't trade this week, but I'm starting to think perhaps I should. A couple early on before the prices start rising could sit me in good stead.

I'm thinking Pearce>Geary then C. Gardiner>BJ.

My forward line is healthy already (Riewoldt, Pav, Brown, Burton, Porplzia, Gamble, with Rioli & Tippett on the bench), but my mids kinda let me down last week (Dal, Houli & Corey = yay, Johnstone, Stanton, Pearce= not so yay). I've got Palmer & Bird on the bench.

So- by the above trade, I strengthen my foward line further and add a cash cow (and with luck another decent score or two) into the middle. Pearce isn't going to even see the ball this week against Sydney, and Gardiner is gonna struggle to get a game at all while the Gtrain is up and lumbering. Why I picked either of them I still don't fully understand.

Any ideas from you wise folks?

Once Goddard and Maguire are back will Geary play enough games to get a decent price hike?

Good question- I still think Goddard's a couple of weeks away (don't quote me on that), and who knows with Goose? If Geary plays half as well as he did last week he'll be tough to shift for the next few weeks at least, and by then he'll have made me some money and all will be well!

I think.

Your line of thinking is exactly where I was a few days ago.

However I've decided to sit tight for this week. Trades in the first week are always iffy unless you have a set plan. I had a set plan, fell $800 short so I'm going to wait it out. I'm looking at N.J.Brown and S.Longeran myself.

That's my problem- I think I have a set plan, but I keep talking myself out of it. Doing this will leave me with $65K, which I can use to upgrade my backline (Cornes, H. Shaw, Gilbee, Bradshaw, Hurn, S. Thompson, Proud with Pfeiffer and Barlow on the bench) which as you can see also has a couple of holes/unknowns.

I can't justify getting rid of the rookies yet, and I don't know what Barlow can do, so it's whether Hurn or Bradshaw fail to live up to expectations (or of course one of the guns, but I'll usually stick with those kind of players for a few weeks- they more often than not bounce back). But I loved having Kennelly in my team last year, and providing he does OK again this week I'd love to have him once again.

So that's my sort of plan (yes, I'll need to find another trade to make to afford him with either of those guys, which makes it even worse...)

Ugh- a long night ahead I forsee...

TBH I wouldn't lose Bradshaw. He was basically scoreless in the first half and ended up with 75. Hurn is a little bit of an unknown, alot of hype but yeah. I'd stay the week and make a decision next week.

My only problem is BJ. I want him back in my team, if he has a field day against Melbourne I'll have to get him next week.

Decisions, Decisions.

that could potentially be dangerous but where you went wrong is starting 2 rookies in rioli and tippet.

What were your thoughts on Lynch?

I think Lynch should fair well this season he did rack them up last year and hoping for more of the same if not he could become one of my first major trades for the year/

The lure of the BJ is almost irresistible, isn't it? Will sleep on this now. Happy deciding, and thanks for the feedback.

Brad Johnson had 1 good game, he wont score thet high every game you do realise. better to get some1 consistant

bj started off with a 180 last year aswell if i remember correctly.
then died off to only average 100 or so. how inconsistent.;)

Trying to avoid all trades this early but I'm feeling I need to make one.
I had Armitage, Tuck & Bird in my mid's. I think I'm going to trade Armitage for Geary/Bird/Palmer. Thoughts?

There are two Birds? ;)
Seriously though- If you do need to lose Armo (fair enough- just keep an eye on him if/when he does play) Geary is the more obvious choice at this stage- he's played, played well, and even when Goddard and Macguire return, providing he can back up last week's game even half as well this week, there are a few other Saints players who would be in front of him in the queue for a game or two down at Casey Fields...

Palmer is an unknown quantity, but I hope he does as well as everyone thinks he will, and his NAB cup performances suggest- he's already on my bench...

m

Traded Lucas (forced obviously) but picked up Franklin could be a risk but my gut tells me that this could be his year

A wise move- Buddy's in my sights too, but first I have to make a space for Mr BJ. He's at that stage of his career where the incredible and obvious talent stops being mercurial and starts being consistent. Providing the ball delivery that's been promised this year transpires...

I wish I had have done my research earlier, I have Meesen and no Hampson as I thought he was out for ages. Also can anyone tell me whats happening with Armitage? haven't heard much about him.

Armitage got knocked out while playing for the Casey Scorpions-wasn't doing that great either apparently.:(

I'm trading him for Jack.

Should Barlow play this w/e im looking at offloading either McPhee or Ryder (went with his cos i like him haha) who hasn't really been a great scorer for someone like Jake King or Kennelly.. I have 313000 left too..

Cheers

use the $ u shuldnt have 300k left, stick with mcphee if u went for him, barlow is a 50/50, if he dosent play i would up grade to nicoski and i would start looking to upgrade ryder fairly quickly as well

McPhee's new role playing half-forward doesn't look like it's going to be doing him any SC-related favours and could be set to plummet in price.
Kennelly started well in '07 but was injured multiple times throughout the season so I see him as a bit of a liability. Jake King looks promising but is an unknown quantity. I'm sure he'll improve on his '07 form but don't know how consistent he will be up against the better teams.

With that kind of cash spare you could afford to upgrade both McPhee and Ryder to high-scoring consistent players like Cornes, Gilbee, Shaw, Bowden, Milburn, et al

thanks sdsdsdsd yer iwas a bit of a crazy tactic.. ive already got nico, so do you rekon paddy should get the chop or is barlow overrated?
This is my first year supercoaching lol and im finding it a bit different to the ol dream team hahah

I liked the look of barlow this year and i had him in my team until the final few minutes, if he gets the playing time he will be a good pickup, im not to confident with ryder, had him last year, if u have 300k u can look to trade him out for a gun like milburn/shaw/gilbee/bowden who r worth the $

so at this stage i would keep barlow if playing and cut him if he aint, if he aint i would look to use the cash on ryder, i have a similiar problem with barlow in my dreamteam

il probably sit this week but thoughts on
newman----> mundy
njones ----> priddis
???

I'd definitely look at bringing Priddis in. I'd expect Newman's and Mundy's average scores to be pretty close over the course of the season. Although I can see both averaging around the 90 mark.

goose and goddard are still listed as 2 weeks away min on the injury board. im not sure if they will both go straight in or start in the rezzys. if geary performs, there are other people who will get the chop b4 him eg blake, fiora etc

Not exactly a trade, but without being able to start a new thread this was the thread that fitted my question the most.

Who should I have on the field this week as they are all playing, Edwards from Carlton, Proud from Brisbane, or Barlow from Sydney?

Opinions would be much appreciated.
