SANFL Round 1

I have noticed that some people have tipped North to win with a bit of ease but that's crap. I hate when people tip North to win in a big game as we often lose!! Generally, games between these two clubs have been close lately and it will be a great game. I noticed you have A LOT of new faces including ex-Rooster Jimbo McEntee. It will go down to the wire I think, hopefully there is a bumper crowd but the Crow game will take a few faces away.

I enjoy Prospect but the EAGLES seem to lose early games to North (the final last year was not normal but expected by myself) at prospect.
It should be a great game between two teams who have been up near the top in the last few years.
And both teams have injury concerns even as late as last night LADHAMS was a concern for north.
Mcentee has impressed me in the trials so hopefully he will continue his good form.

Yeah a couple of years ago we beat you Round 1 at Prospect in Dean Howards' debut, he kicked a left footer from the boundary line to seal the win ;)
I wouldn't be surprised if Ladhams was rested because we have a bye next week and he should be fit and firing for Round 3. Hopefully he comes up though as he's a champ.

McEntee is a very very good pick-up, can play either end of the ground too and North supporters were gutted when he left. Kicked 7 goals or something in a Ressies GF a couple of years back against Norwood. You like stealing our boys don't you, Grocke, Redden now McEntee (even though that wasn't really theft). :p:cool:

The same game we lost by 100 odd points? ;) We were atrocious!

The gun Ryan Porter played well for you guys that day, but I see he left for Central. And Cubillo was adjudged BOG, he’s left too.

Jars didnt like McEntee from what ive heard.

It wasn't 100 it was about 90.. I remember because I got bagged when I said "come on North kick another goal".. by my own supporters too. I wanted that ton.

McEntee was brilliant that day but that wasn't a one off, he was a very good player in the Bs. betterthanu is right though, Jars had some issue with him which is why he never got picked even when we had a lot of injuries, then he ****ed off to Marion and now he's at Woodville.

Cubillo was BOG that day and I was a huge, huge fan of his but now I don't like him at all, it seems he demanded more money from North and then shopped himself around a bit.. or so I've heard. Pretty poor effort by the young lad, not sure whether it was him or his old man though...

Ryan Porter was a gun, one of the main reasons I got there early for the ressies.

Well we have given you guys one or two players over the years O'hara,Toia and a guy from QLD can not think of his name now.:D
The point is they normally play great against their old teams.
I was at Prospect for that game

Cheers

I also saw most of the reserves and one young Norwood player was really really impressive. Crows Broken Hill / NSW Scholarship pick Taylor Walker looked really potent across half forward. Took some impressive grabs, works really hard and ended up kicking 5 or 6 as well I think ?
Does look a little slim but I'm sure the Crows are aware of that and he will bulk up no doubt. Should have played League tonight ? Would have to be make his way into Norwoods 1st team next week, surely.

Come on Roosters. We have a good team this week, but it will be a cracking game. It clashes with the Crows so not many of you will get to see it. I will be at Prospect however, hopefully the Crows-Eagles scores are on the scoreboard. Would be nice if both my teams knock off the Eagles on Saturday.

I hope Norwood gets up as well, **** Sturt.
im working most days the guys are playing this year and Im spewing

I saw a bit of the last quarter of the reserves match. Walker kicked 2.1 in this time including one awesome goal from the boundary. Set shot, on about the 50m line, tight angle and he did not miss :thumbsu: Was great to see him display some emotion afterwards, he was very happy :)

Gee, not much to say about the league game tonight. I'm pretty sure Bryce Campbell wasn't playing, so that left Aaron Kite as the only Crows player playing. I wasn't counting stats tonight, but he would'nt have collected many. Unfortunately not the greatest game from him. Did happen to see him lay a few tackles and try to get into the swing of things. He remained off during most of the second half of the game (he would have played the 10 or so opening minutes of the third term), so whether he got injured or what, I'm not sure.

Final score:
Norwood 4.12 36
Sturt 14.12 96

Kite had a shocker. Made an impressive start with a good smother and a few strong tackles, one which resulted in a free for. I think he finished with 1 possession for the night, 1 free against, 1 free for and about 4 or 5 tackles. He got injured in the third quarter, I’m suspecting it was a thigh injury. From this point onwards he played with his hair on the bench and I gave him BOG in those stakes.

Can't be bothered writing any more, I'm shattered.

So nice to see a couple shattered Norwood fans on here :D:D. Cant blame you after your boys served up that tripe tonight and youre lucky it wasnt even worse. Great game by Sarge tonight, really looked at home in the Double Blue jumper.

You're not implying I go for Norwood are you...:p

I actually go for Sturt, but any SANFL is good for me :thumbsu:

Saw the first quarter of ressies before I had to go to work (a mate of mine is a Sturt ressies player) and while Norwood got off to a slow start, Walker just looked the most potent forward on the ground.

Unfortunately I have little more to report as work needed me in early :(.

Went down and had a look. Walker very impressive. Will not play many reserves games, he just has class written all over him.
I had a good look at Kite in the Seniors. Now I realise it was only one game but OMG! The best thing I can say is he runs around a lot like Jericho, only not as good!!!!
He basically didn't make it to a contest all night. The tackles he laid were only after the contest had been and the handballs were being throw around for so long he eventually made it there. He spent 95% of his time walking, 4.9 % in a very slow stiff legged jog and then 0.1% sprinting (which is actually pretty quick).
Basically he was the worst player on the ground by a Country Mile! I'd be very surprised if he played league again this season (that's how far off he was).

The good news, Ports Mitchell Farmer was also invisible.

There was one standout I would be looking at for a 2nd round draft pick and that was Charlie Sharples. Quick and CAN play. Very impressive.

Oh he's played better, much better, before. Don't write him off just yet ;)
