You can't seriously still blame it on the salary cap business that was 6 seasons ago..

Why do we continually struggle to climb up the ladder

I think we are finally realising that it is coming down to the players, I never thought I would say this but they dont want it as much, they dont go the extra mile, they are soft.

There is no one in our team I would put next to any of our greats from the past, imagine fisher next to sticks, scotland and doul, carrazzo and johnno, simpson and harmes, mckay, english, hunter, not just quality players, but showed passion, desperation, and played for the jumper without giving up. This exists in other teams today, no doubt, Brisbane trifecta, geelong, its there no doubt. We simply do not have it - the occasional show of skill, Setanta putting in the odd contribution - but a genuine indifference to the jumper.

Well, until we can put four quarters of footy together, we'll keep experiencing these results for the rest of the season. So disappointing.

There comes a point when it just becomes overwhelming. We need the odd glimpse of hope, whether that is through passion and desperation where we have truly slogged it out and given our all for four quarters - or even an unemotional win. But constantly being smashed with no change, hands on hips, by spooners and ending up the perenial biatches of Saint Kilda is too much.

Spot on! I said almost the same thing tonight.

It looks to me like they don't have any passion or love for the club.
They have no idea what it means to love this club and to bleed for it.

We put one quarter together tonight. The rest was a complete mess. Constantly kicking backwards trying to set something up, no one presents in the fwd line, if they do 9/10 they cough it up and then it gets run back down the other end without a wimper! Where has the desperation to win gone?! Judd looks underdone, fev cant hold a mark, and the rest of the guys really dont even seem to give a shit! We are two wins away from our worst losing streak ever! Pathetic.

There is no defensive pressure at all from any of our players. we put in a decent effort maybe 3-4 times a season and those are the games we usually win, every other week we are sloppy lazy and un-accountable.. It's becoming the norm for Carlton not to show up

I just think we have key players who are still underdone (Judd and Stevens) and a constant rotation of new guys as Ratts continues to experiment.

Our skills in the first quarter were awesome, but how many times have we been good for 20 mins and then get compeltely overhauled? Something happens - we get cocky or the other side steps up to the challenge, but suddenly our skills go begging and we lose a yard.

On the plus side, Waite was sensational, Fisher and Houlihan were useful, and I really like what I see in Hampson, Pfieffer and Edwards. Thornton continues to mature and Betts stepped up tonight.

We should be more positive - the only way is up.

We've been blaming skill errors for the last 3 years! Their professional, highly paid, AFL footballers and we are still constantly blaming "skill errors" for losses! WTF do they do at training? Play playstation?

I agree Judd hits the mark, but Stevens' disposal was ineffectual mostly - who either fed it into trouble or a St Kilda player. And Scotland? Does he know how to flat pass?

This is what gets to me - the problem is that I then look at other teams thats how the play STANDARD. We do something which other teams would consider the basics and we consider ourselves resurgent, on the way back playing well, full of "unrealised" talent - this is the back-slapping reaction we have to doing the basics.

How far away are we from having a vice like grip on the competition, from being a team htan all others fear and know they have little to no chance of beating.

Ill answer that - this team will never win a flag. EVER.
We will not make the finals with this approach, this attitude, this level desire, committment and passion - that simple.

We need to change some fundamental stuff about the players, and wrapping them in cotton wool and blaming the AFL, unnpires, previous drafting, is NOT going to make us a better team.

The players need to do some SERIOUS soul searching.

Why is it that our players dont back themselves? How many times has someone run into 50 and tried to pass it off? Betts did it 3 times tonight......
Midfielders constantly kicking it long and high to fev and fish.....if those two are double teamed or not in good position run in and kick the ******* goal ya self.
