sorry about that, just figure it would gain a bit of attention. my question was regarding lucy though. i wasn't really into bigfooty a when he got de-listed; only really read the papers and watched the games. can anyone fill me in on what happened with that kid?
he was an u18 all-australian full-back, had been on the list one year, then sheedy cut him. for one, isn't that against the laws of the game? i thought drafted players got minimum 2 years..
and also, why gone after just one year? was sheedy (the most optimistic of coaches regarding kids and duds) that unimpressed he didn't want to waste everyone's time, did he have long-term injury problems, or did he have a damian-cupido-like attitude?

any info would be great to satisfy my curiosity..

I wondered that too. Was a top 20 pick in most fantasy drafts that year and everyone thought the Bombers had a bargain getting him late in that draft. I know he was thought to be slow off the mark but one year seems a bit light on.

Anyone remember Sam Hunt,

I saw him play in the VFL Grandfinal last year with the Geelong VFL team and he did alright for an Ex-AFL player. Hopefully Carlton will draft him this year so that I can see him be a success like he was supposed to be.

Was playing back pocket, Neagle took an absolute hangar in that game if I remember correctly.

Its a referance to the majority of your players.....

Most were Ex-Delistee's from other clubs...... your team must be really looking hard for some forms of talent from ex-club players.

Yeah,1 one of the reasons I heard was that he had really short arms.

Cory McGrath gave them a couple of good years and Bannister whilst no superstar is a depth player that almost every club has on their books.

Whilst I would love to get stuck into Carlton, they were stripped of draft picks in the years you were talking about and the only way for them to basically rejuvenate their list was to get top ups from other clubs.

Actually Cloke, Pfeiffer and Bannister are the only players on our list who were delisted by their original teams. You must be thinking of another club.

Actually, he didn't agree to new contract and Port didn't traded him so in the end we wound up in the draft. Not sure if Port didn't want him (in which case he was delisted) or he didn't want to stay at port

No, he was out of contract and Port desperately wanted him to stay. He wanted to get home to Victoria and tried to engineer a trade to Collingwood. The Pies wouldn't give Port what they wanted and Stevens wouldn't allow a trade anywhere else. He walked out on the club, put himself in the preseason draft and ended up with Carlton as the Dogs had already committed themselves to Jade Rawlings through the dodgy Veale deal.

I believe they are required to pay them for two years, but don't necessarily have to keep them on the list.

I thought it was 2 years for a first round draft pick and one year for any pick thereafter. I could be wrong though.

Every player drafted for the first time gets a 2 year deal, if you wish to de-list him after 1 year you can pay them out.

Paul Thomas if I remember correctly had either been drafted before or rookied before and only recieved a one-year deal when we drafted him.
