CGS - Sandilands, walker, goddard, judd, mcqualter, delidio (for a day or two), the kellaway, sturat maxfield...

49 in total from CGS

Gardiner (Geelong Coll?), Beaumont, Greene, Ellis, Hawkins, Thomas, Casey-Leigh (MGS) Andrew Erickson (Scotch), Tom Roach, Daniel Jackson (Carey) Luke Power (St Kevs) Fergus Watts, Luke Peel (BGS)

And about 975 players from XC and Caulfield!

What happened with Deledio?

Don't really think CGS can claim him - he only attended the first day of year 12 in 2005 before Richmond got him and a few of the other young draftees a tutor....

You can also add Ezra Poyas to the list. When I first came to the school he and Luke Hammond were the "shining lights" of the recent grammarians in the AFL (It was a little embarrassing for the few years before Judd haha)

Luke Power went to Trinity

would caulfield win if they had a game of afl players going back to their schools
They probably would but Scotch would have Campbell Brown, Rioli, Djerrkura, Barlow, Gill, Nick Smith (debut for Sydney today), Nathan Djerrkura (who would have played a game if he wasn't at Geelong) and Lachie Hill (Carlton Rookie) to help out. Other recent Scotch boys have been Will Slade (ex Geelong) and Andrew Erickson (ex Sydney). Xavier would be in with a shot as well.

Does anyone know anyone from back in the day who has a very good player (ie 200 gamer or best and fairest winner - any brownlow medalists out there besides Judd).

there was a guy by the name of alan la fontaine. melbourne legend. he was inducted in the australian rules hall of fame. pretty sure he went to an APS school, think it may have been carey (someone confirm).

this is what i got from wikipedia:

Recruited from University Blacks as a brilliant full-forward, he was to earn his fame playing with the Melbourne Football Club as a centreman. He was captain of Melbourne during their hat-trick of premierships in 1939, 1940 and 1941.
In 1996 La Fontaine was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
Career highlights:
  • Melbourne 1934 to 1942, 1945: 171 games, 77 goals
  • Melbourne captain 1936 to 1941
  • Melbourne coach 1949 to 1951
  • Melbourne best and fairest 1935, 1936, 1941, 1942
  • Victorian representative 2 matches

he went to skevs

Matthew Laidlaw (sydney), Cam Howat (richmond), Michael Rix (saints) and Julian Rowe (ex Collingwood) are all CAREY boys along with Daniel Jackson (richmond) and Tom Roach (ex richmond).

Luke Ball, Jobe Watson and Ted Richards are just 3 who came out of the same firsts team at Xavier, it's fair to say they dominated the APS back then and would kick any Carey players arses now.

why don't you then name the 106 that played for xavier and we'll see if their any good

the 106 player would still be better than :

"Matthew Laidlaw (sydney), Cam Howat (richmond), Michael Rix (saints) and Julian Rowe (ex Collingwood) are all CAREY boys along with Daniel Jackson (richmond) and Tom Roach (ex richmond)."

its one thing to get a player drafted, its another for a player to make it. so what if a guy gets drafted at number 76, does his knee in his first season playing vfl reserves and gets delisted. when has carey ever produced a chris jud or a luke ball? never. i guarentee you that if you were to list the top 5 players to ever come out of the school, rather than the number of kids who got drafted, the same schools would still be winning (xavier, caulfield, etc) and the same schools would still be losing (carey).

College was the first school with two Brownlow medallists - Carji Greeves in 1924 and Alistair Lord in 1962. I don't know the total number of College boys to have played in AFL teams but well over 50 have played for Geelong alone. Most recent ones include Tim Callan (Geelong, now Footscray) and Lachie Henderson (Brisbane). CGS was the second APS school I am aware of to get two Brownlow medallists, with Judd being the second. I can't remember who the first one was, but some mad keen Fielder should be inspired to find out and let us know. MGS had Don Cordner in 1946 and Scotch had Bill Morris in 1948.

some other ones:

Sam Newman (GGS)
Robbie Tarrant (XC)
Simon Garlic (SKC)
Andrrew Schauble (XC)
Sam Sheldon (HC)

MGS would liley have the most accomlished Players in the APS.

Current Players

Recent Past Players of Note

There's been 107 from Xavier alone. Jobe Watson, Ted Richards, Andrew Leoncelli are just a few to add.

Err big names...?

Sacred Heart in Adelaide have had the Cornes brothers, Pavlich, Mackie, Rivers, Fosdike, Porplyzia just to name a few.
