^As opposed to gifting players such as Laycock games purely on the basis that we have no one to come in?

I don't care if we have to bring in 16 year olds - no more passengers at Essendon :thumbsu:

Just watched the Bomber TV clip of our coach with the 3 debutants...

Here's some words of wisdom from the great man.

From a “big picture” point of view, giving opportunities to young players, with the vision of where this club is heading is really important. These young men are big part of our future, and that’s what is all about, heading towards our next period of sustained success.

Is it Risky? Whoever we put up, we expect to win footy games. Game knows no age.

As a club we need get maturity, age, size and games into these young men.

Just love this stuff from the coach.

It's a little bit hard to get games into the young men if they have/are been injured.

Gumby is the one that has me fuming. With Scotty injury it would've been ideal for him to get some games under the belt.

Oh well quite obviously we don't live in a perfect world.

Exactly... so why are we giving guys games in the seniors when they were passengers at VFL level and don't deserve their call up

Laycock was given his opportunity and hasn't cut it. Problem lies in list management with no backup ruckman. Bellchambers hasn't earned a callup and shouldn't play against Brogan and Lade.

Every successful team in the AFL and any sport is built on the premise that you earn your spot in the team.

i think this week, more than any other, we need to absolutely pack out the dome and show all these new players how much this club means to us.

Knighta...do us a favour on sunday and do not field a back 6 that looks like the one last week...otherwise we will get belted.

FB: Monfries___Johns___Lovett

HB: Winderlich__Pears__Riemers

We can surely do better than that...anyone think that Knights forgot that we also change ends at half time during the ANZAC game?

I gather the article on the Essendon website means that our bench will be...

Neagle, Nash, Johns, ?

ESSENDON
B: Bachar Houli, Mal Michael, David Myers
HB: Nathan Lovett-Murray, Patrick Ryder, Ricky Dyson
C: Jarrod Atkinson, Jobe Watson, Henry Slattery
HF: Andrew Welsh, Adam McPhee, Darcy Daniher
F: Tom Hislop, Matthew Lloyd, Andrew Lovett
Foll: David Hille, Leroy Jetta, Brent Stanton
Int: Courtney Johns, Angus Monfries, Jay Nash, Jay Neagle
Emg: Tom Bellchambers, Jason Johnson, Tayte Pears

In: Atkinson, Hislop, Jetta, Myers, Neagle, Daniher
Out: Dustin Fletcher (groin), Jason Laycock (omitted), Adam Ramanauskas (virus), Kyle Reimers (foot), Jason Winderlich (groin), Pears (omitted)

Hille looks like he's rucking the entire game....

Ryder will have to play back surely with Fletcher out as well...

I think Johns will play all down back with Neagle in the team and release Ryder to do some ruckwork. Hopefully they use Paddy effectively when hes not rucking, may be as a roaming forward or wingman.

Michael on Tredders, Johns on Westoff, Ryder on lade.

To be honest, it's not the big boys at port that worry me, it's ebert and Motlop. NLM may take one... Neagle and Danniher to both play forward... might stretch the backline... i just hope that ugly bastard cassisi doesn't tear a new one as usual.. hate that guy.

does Ryder have the body to matchup on Lade? Because that's how he marks... he outbodies them.

Ryder will play ruck/wing.
Johns and Mal will take Tredrea and Lade/Brogan
NLM, Slattery, Houli, Nash, Myers, Dyson will play back halfback, with some running into the midfield
Welsh, Daniher will play back/forward.
Monfries, Jetta, Lovett will play forward/mid.
Lloyd, Mcphee, Neagle will play forward.
Hill ruck and rest forward.
Stanton, Watson, Hislop, Atkinson will play midfield.

Midfield matchups actually look OK this week. Id love to see Watson and Kornes go head to head for clearences. Slattery to play on Salopek or Rodan doesnt look at all scary for us. Shaun Burgoyne will be interesting. If Knights is going to keep trying to use Dyson as a tager (I dont think he should), then I think he might go to Burgoyne, because Burgoyne will be too quick for Slattery. Dyson will just need to learn to work hard. At a pinch, Welsh might also get a stopping role in the midfield. Wouldnt be the worst idea that has been tried this year.

i dont know about johns in the backline,
i rekon they should give him a full game upforward.
but thats going to be hard with neagle in the side.

Cant wait to see that....

FP: Neagle FF:Lloyd FP:Johns

With a combined weight of 290 kg's!!!
That'd be an exciting forward line, or at least a very interesting one.

well it really hurts to see slattery still getting a game after last week ...he is nothing short of a ____

Kinda reminds me of the twighlight of my footy career in the bush. Our forward line had a combined weight of 340 - 30 kilos. The full forward was 130 of those. lol. Vest thing was, they kicked over 120 goals between them. Three of the fittest fat blokes I ever knew. :D
