Ease up on Brown.

I thought Watt was very good last week. I'm a bit over bagging Watt, even though he's not great with the ball in his hands I feel comfortable with him taking on opposition leading talls.

Your giving away two key position players and a ruckman.Who replaces them in the short term while you are waiting for your draft choices to mature?

IMO Brown and Watt are two KPP's who are not up to an AFL standard to win a premiership for us.
Hale has potential but i believe that when the GC team is available to play for he will find it hard to not go.He can stay if we dont get a reasonable trade/player for him.Hopefuly he can lift this year and play some great footy with us and then it wont be an issue, although the GC team has already mentioned that he will be targeted.
I guess we need Tarrant,Josh Smith and S.Thommo to take the next step this year and next and hopefully we can get one or two of these players to play for us in the next 10 years. We will also need a high draft pick or trade for a KPP to help ensure that we are a better team without Brown and Watt and who knows maybe Hale might not be here in a year or two...
In every line of our team structure we need one quality kid or trade to come to us within the next 2 years, before the GC and West Sydnet teams will take most of the best draft picks for years to come.
Im optomistic that we have some quality kids that are coming through to make the senior team consistently and with the help of the next 2 drafts i believe we have a window of opportunity to win a premiership with Harvey still playing well for us before he retires.

.....up to a point.

If the club just let him coast and get games because he has more talent than anyone on the list, then they are doing Wellsy and the team a dis-service.

Not saying Wellsy is there yet..but ____ing hell, sometimes he walks the line.

Yep. I think Shannon Grant was just coasting at the start of the 2001 season & Denis Pagan got sick of it & dropped him. What happened after that??? He won the best & fairest.

Maybe dropping Wellsy isn't a bad idea after all.

I doubt that'll do any good. Our guys need a SOLID WEEK on the track to get the fire in the belly. That's all. Wellsy does chime in with 1%ers.. let's not take that out of his game otherwise he'll think, "oh, you want possessions in a inferior league, ah that's easy.. " it's more about getting the midfield balance
that is hurting us. Don't know if it's the rotations taking too much drain from the guys that probably need to guts out a few games on end coz I think the mind can switch off when you KNOW that you have to come off pretty shortly.

*speechless*

While I am always going to be partial to Duckfan's 'giant kangaroo eating Essendon player' avatar, that picture of Woodson's just cannot be topped. Rapt to see it make a reappearance.

Disturbingly golden.

Brown is garbage.

At least Watt has a position and gets it right more often than he gets it wrong. Brown just gets in the way and I honestly believe he is the mole, placed in the team to bring us down.

"the Anvil" has become "The Marshmellow". No presence, dumb footballer, too many skill errors, would struggle to get a game with Freo if he went back there. Trade him to Werribee for Podsiadly.

Watt gives little in an attacking sense, makes the odd clanger, but always gives his best and often negates his opponent.

Hale has potential. Largley disappointing the last couple of years but is still young and shows a glimmer occasionally.

Brown. Failed as a defender. Failed as a forward. Now playing as a slow loose man across the middle. Gets the ball on his own and still turns it over regularly (despite kicking being his only possible asset).

Pound for pound one of the softest footballers ever.

Got me beat why anyone would mount a crusade to keep this guy at our club, let alone in the team.

I can handle Watt and Hale not getting over 10 possies a game. Generally that's not what their role is about. On the weekend Hale played ok until being ripped up on Goodwin, who's an excellent player. Hale got 13 tap outs (which is 5 more than Hamish).
Brown is not a KPP, and therefore must win the ball and use it well. He had 12 possies and 6 clangers. This is fairly consistant with how he plays his games most weeks, while also getting ripped up by many quick wingers e.g. Thomas.
Get him out, put Urqhart in there.

Hale got 13 tap outs

17....only played 51% game time as well, and given he spent a little bit of time forward, he got his hand to a lot of footy at stoppages.

Where'd you get 17? On pro-stats it says 13...
But yeah, this is Hale's optimum position. Coming off the bench when Hamish needs a spell and playing a cameo role in the forward line. If he's down there for too long his opponents always get the best of him.

And having said it all that Brown > Hale + Watt.

You guys have gots to face the facts.

I believe the guy has the goods to be a superstar,I just dont think he has the hunger.
Doesn't have the goods, doesn't have the hunger, doesnt have the talent. A superstar would be like boomer. Or for a guy like Leigh Brown's size, Jonathan Brown. You think he has this much talent but is being held back by HUNGER!?

Eric Lissenden had talent. Leigh Brown has talent. Hunger is more important then you make out BIG h.

Brown is filling in. A stop gap while we are waiting for Smith, Sinclair, Urquhart and Riggio to get into the team (all getting close) - then it will be it for him unless injury hits.

Hale is still very much a part of our future plans. The last two weeks he has shown some really strong form in the forward line (vs Sydney) and some ability in the ruck (vs Adelaide). Just has to put the two together and he will be a very valuable second ruck/forward.

I'm not saying that hunger isn't important, quite the opposite. But I genuinely think that Brown has more hunger than talent. He must have a lot of hunger because he trains well and he was told last year he would never play another game in the 1s and then he's rushed in the team after a broken hand.
Also, the man could never be a superstar. You can't argue with that.

I think colby68 was talking about Wells.
