Is Cameron Mooney overrated?

Yeh, definitely.

Like Q Lynch, he benefits (Or in Lynch's case benefited) from playing in an exceptional team.

He'd struggle to kick goals in an average or worse team.

Generally speaking, a team is great due to the sum of its parts. There is obviously the distinction between a star team and a team of stars, but what you are saying nonetheless is that Geelong would be no worse off without Mooney, because he is only a good footballer thanks to everyone else.

Sure the ball was coming his way frequently last year, but he still had to mark it and kick it through the big ones.

I don't think he's rated all that highly in the first place. Goes to show that just because you're in a great team doesn't mean you'll be a great player.

I think he is a useful forward, that's about it.

I didn't realise Treadrea had retired

Suck it up bitch :p

^yeah we got humiliated in the final

and mooney played shit

scored what 4 or 5 goals after being delivered the ball by your gun midfield about 268 times? wakelin did very well given the situation

and tredrea is underrated if anything... the way BF views him, they'd consider a snail a better footballer than him... most hated footballer in the comp

He isn't over-rated and I am embarrassed that a Carlton fan has started this thread considering he would be very handy at CHF for us. Mooney is a very good player and adds the grunt needed up forward. I haven't even heard Mooney be over-rated by anyone through the media or on BF.

Your exaggerations are disgraceful, "Mooney kicks 2 goals 87 every week", Geelong deliver him the ball "268 times."

Yeah mate, 5 goals in a GF is shit. He was terrible. You are an absolute bitter loser. If only Tredrea could have stood up even to the slightest degree, like Mooney did, in either of your GF's.

Waklein did a good job :p:D The bloke pulled a Bruce Doull, was humiliated in his final game and forced to live unfulfilled with the disappointment of looking like a pathetic old sap upon his final opportunity to cross the white line. People are going to remember his career (since he really didn't achieve much else) on that. HAHAHAHA.

What a sad and sorry way to finish off, probably slip into depression. Cried like a bitch on the sidelines at the end of the game, can't blame him though, having to stare at Moon Dogg's big hairy arse hole all day long.

Our reasoning that he IS overrated is this:
-his team make him look better than he is
-he was given an AA spot - even though there were much better forwards
-he was given a H.o.F spot - even though there were much better forwards

There's our reasoning. So why do you think he isn't overrated? Let me ask you; would you rather Mooney (AA) or another forward who didn't make AA like Buddy Franklin?

I'm ashamed that YOU'RE a blues supporter; which is the only thing stopping me from ripping into you properly.

Juddernaut08, It would appear the creation of this thread on your part, and subsequent ranting, portrays you as the more disgraceful Blues' supporter.

Franklin and Lucas probably did deserve an AA instead of Mooney, though that doesn't mean he is necessarily overated. He kicked and created a lot of goals last year. Don't let his less glamorous form of the first 7 rounds this year fool you into any misperceptions. He aint no Franklin, but he is still a very good footballer.

Couldn't agree more mate.

Frequently?
Geelong were ridiculously dominant last season. He had better service than any other player in the league.

Mooney has done sweet FA this season and Geelong haven't lost a game. I'm confident in saying that if Tomahawk was the main focal point up forward he could equal Mooney and by next year surpass Mooneys output.

I've never said he's a hack, he's a solid player but the team last year made him look better than he is.

Why single out Mooney?. The whole Geelong team have been hyped up by the adoring media, and their supporters as 100% 2008 flag certainties. But I'm not so sure. 2007 was without question the poorest quality top-8 we've seen this decade, which meant the Cats weaknesses (e.g. lack of quality KP forwards) never got tested. The Geelong 2007 team, was a 3rd-finish quality side in season 2006. Mooney does his job well, and works within his limitations. Hawkins is meant to be the big hope, but question marks are being raised about his poor mobility, weight issues, and suitability for the modern game. :)

We understand, it must be that time of the month.

You are still beautiful big girl. :thumbsu:

20 KPF I WOULD take ahead of Mooney....
J.Brown(BRIS)
M.Pavlich(FRE)
L.Franklin(HAW)
M.Richardson(RICH)
B.Fevola(CARL)
T.Cloke(COLL)
B.Hall(SYD)
N.Riewoldt(STK)
J.Koschitze(STK)
S.Lucas(ESS)
M.Lloyd(ESS)
B.McKinley(WCE)
J.Kennedy(WCE)
D.Bradshaw(BRIS)
N.Thompson(KANG)
J.Roughead(HAW)
R.Murphy(WBD)
K.Tippet(ADEL)
S.Welsh(WBD)
T.Hawkins(GEEL)

A couple of them are based on potential but thats purely because they look more promising than what Mooney will ever be...
