i agree merv. and in last two matches i took note he blasted laycock and he was dropped then got stuck into nash during port match and he too dropped. he backs up his statements with actions at the selection table - i like that. make the players earn their spots - laycock and nash were lazy -go earn it now boys...

Very happy with the selected side apart from Nash being dropped.
Why? He's the most unnaccountable member of the team, basically plays as a free man with a license to run a muck, yet he only manages to average 19 disposals. Needs to go back to the magoos and tighten his defensive side of the game because it's hurting the team.

Myers, Dyson, Rama, Winderlich would all do a much better job at half back.

He has pumped him up pre season, played him, given him every chance, he hasn't delivered, now he is dropped.

Which is why I wasn't expecting anything from Ricky.. NAB Cup is a joke to say the least!

How good is it to have a coach that has generally done everything he said he was going to do from day 1?

And not showing overt favouritism to his "liked" players, ie Dyson.

He has pumped him up pre season, played him, given him every chance, he hasn't delivered, now he is dropped.

Very refreshing.

Very well said Merv.

Watson Out!!

May 16, 2008 04:15pm
ESSENDON'S bulging injury list has another addition, with Jobe Watson sidelined for Sunday's clash with Sydney by a back injury.

But the Swans have been bolstered by the inclusion of Nick Malceski just 86 days after undergoing knee surgery.

Watson has been replaced in the starting 18 by Jason Winderlich, with Jarrod Atkinson coming into the squad as an emergency.

"Jobe suffered a knock to the back at some point and he hasn’t come up as well as we had hoped," Calthorpe said.

"We are not going to take any chances with him, especially since we are traveling to Sydney.

"It's disappointing as he been our best ball winner and we will be looking to other players to work hard to cover his loss."

Calthorpe said the club doesn’t expect the injury to cause Watson any long-term problems and he is likely to be available next week.

Malceski ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the Swans' NAB Cup game against Hawthorn on February 17.

Had he opted for a traditional knee reconstruction, using part of another tendon to repair the ACL, that would have involved a 12-month rehabilitation.

Instead, French surgeon J. P. Laboreau rebuilt Malceski's knee five days after the incident using industrial-strength synthetic fibre in a technique known as LARS (ligament augmentation and reconstruction system).

He has been named on the bench to play Essendon on Sunday.

Yahoo - we're going to win so much of the ball now.

Re: Watson Out!!

It couldn't have come at a worst time, with Sydney's style of play, we will miss him heaps.

Re: Watson Out!!

We have Malceski back!

Finally we'll get to see the beginnings of the Kennelly/Malch/Mattner attack from defense :D

Don't really expect him to have a huge impact in his first game back. Mainly holding out for him having an okay game and not getting injured again.

Its not that hard to contain Goodes.... Just chuck a big guy in front of him and hey presto, no clearances for the double Brownlow medallist.

The only reason he gets Best on Ground Performances is because his opponent is too lazy to get in front of him during stoppages.

Probrley more so coz Goodes doesnt stand still genius!

Last time we played, you guys kicked a winning goal on the run from 3 rows deep in the crowd, wont happen this time, we're on to your cheating ways!

I'd be surprised if we got within 30 points, Lloyd will be lucky to kick 3 with Bolton on him, we had our Bolton you have yours, I think yours is better:D

I think we will win, but I gotta admit, I like the way Knights has put his foot down at your club, I know he changed his ideas a bit since his appointment, but thats what makes him good, he can adapt to the situation as it unfolds! Shit, that was pretty deep huh? Anyway, Go The Bloods!...:thumbsu:
