Mike Rucci was on 3 aw tonight and was very critical of everything Port Adelaide at the moment
Midfield mix was all wrong,defence was so inexperienced it's not funny and foward line was non existent.Mark Williams spent too much time concentrating on the Dream Team when he should have been concentrating on his young players and now are paying for it.
He also said Adelaide were a very professional out fit and Neil Craig was easy to deal with no matter what you threw at him.
Mark Williams on the other hand was very difficult especially when things were going against him .
Adelaides marketing was also very professional and Port really had some marketing issues all wrong ,relying too much on old names.(Didn't really understand who he meant?)
By the sound s of it in his opinion he thinks Port need a complete makeover from the Coach down.?
I know not many on this site like him or anyone critical of Port Adelaide but I reckon Port might just need a big shake up.

Perhaps you should read the Port's marketing Thread to get a sense of reality............we don't mind people being critical of the PAFC it's just when their criticism doesn't match reality that we have a problem with it. There is a lot of work the club needs to do but it's nothing like the crap written in the Advertiser as they seem to stay a long way away from reality.

Rucci and the Advertiser just write and push their biased garbage as the club doesn't answer every single point/issue that they want to raise and/or push........look at the Robbie Gray article which as you can see from this board appears to be a rehash of an article from 12 months ago as posted in the Gray's Anatomy Thread

Now surely you don't have more faith in Rucci and his fellow Advertiser journalists than the club and more importantly it's actual members and supporters who put their money and work into promoting the club we have followed all our lives......

I haven't been involved in the marketing thread, but one thing I do know first hand is that Port will need to wait one generation before we make a dent into supporters in SA.
A perfect example is my brother in law and his 3 kids. At least one of them has looked as if they would follow Port but no chance, big fat chance, there is too much hatred of anything Port Adelaide football wise for a number of reasons. When they have kids though it will be a vastly different proposition, it will be Crows Port and not tribal.

What we need to do in the meantime is keep being successful and bite our teeth. Nobody want to follow a crap team or crap club, nor a club that has an identity crisis.
Time will heal all wounds but in the meantime we need to stay strong.

I have some Uncles and Auntys who are far more vicious against Port now when they ever where when we were a SANFL force.Before one barracked for North Adelaide and one for Glenelg or West Adelaide.But now as Crow supporters they all team up against us.

Agree 100% as in my experience that is a common theme.
One more generation and IMO that will dilute, but in the meantime we not only need to survive but make sure we are successful enough for the next generation of kids to move over to the "good side".

That's because they have had some success and more than ours to date........it happened at times in the SANFL as well on the odd occasion when another club got on a roll for a few years.....just didn't happen a lot.

If we get more success over the next 10-20 years the support will cross over just as it did in the 50's, 70's, 80's and 90's.


The other thing is we as existing PAFC supporters and members should do all we can to encourage others to get on board...............myself I've been involved with the setting up and running of the PAFC Top End Supporters Group from the beginning and we continue to raise money and promote the club in the Top End.

It says a lot when supporters of the other 8 SANFL teams have to team up just to match us.

As for rucci... he has a massive chip on his shoulder. It's still way too early to talk about any shake ups at port, especially considering we did make the GF last year! You'd think with that attitude we were struggling at the bottom of the ladder for a couple of years.

As for Francou...I do rate him and respect his views as he says it how he sees it. If he feels someone deserves a crack he isnt afraid to give it....which can be difficult for an ex player.

I think you can put your paranoia aside. The club would not be asking Rucci to take pot shots at Choco's matchups or draw a long bow to argue that Choco was blaming Danyle Pearce for our sub par performances.

translation; i rate francou at the moment because he is bagging port, i dont like rucci because he bags both.
