What ever else happens in this year's trade period we must trade for Rob Warnock of Freo. It appears as though he wants to come back to Melb, but doesn't want to play at Melbourne with his brother.

We need a big ruckman badly. The only thing that has stopped us beating Essendon, St KIlda and Sydney in the last 4 weeks has been that we have been smashed in the ruck. We have an A grade midfield but, by the last quarter, they are getting tired and can't keep sharking the other Team's hitouts. Yesterday was a prime case when Jolly gave Jude Bolton an armchair ride in the last quarter and a half.

Get Warnock and pair him with Kruezer and Cloke (in the forward line) and we are well on the way to Flag 17.

Being a very good draft this year and the last uncompromised Draft for 3/4 years because of the GC team, we should be able to get Warnock for a 2nd round pick. We should go after him flatout.

I totally agree, and have stated in another thread that Warnock should be our main trade target and we should be using our first draft pick on one of the many talented KP forwards in this years draft

Move Cloke to CHF next year, and even though he won't ever win a game off his own boot, he will certainly provide a contest. Also, Kreuzer to move up there as well.

Isn't it going to be hard to get Warnock?

Here is a scenario:

If Warnock elects for the PSD, Melbourne will finish well below us, they will get him no matter who he doesn't want to play for - am I right?

They only way to get Warnock is if we do a deal with Fremantle, which would mean we will have to give away our first pick, they won't want anything else below that for him....I hope we do get him rather than Brogan or someone who's getting on, but I see it as being a very very difficult task!

This years draft is going to be chock full of talent, and I wouldn't want to waste our first pick when we can get someone to fill the gaps in our forward line. Ratts should give Hampson more game time and get the big sauce (Sammy Jacobs) off the rookie list by elevation.

If we could get Warnock with our 2nd pick, I'm all for it, but I know Melbourne will get him without a doubt - Waste of talent at that useless club.

I read in the Herald sun today (sorry, can't find the link) about Ratten saying how we have a dilemma concerning the ruck.

Do we develop our own ruckmen, which as fast as Kreuzer has adapted to AFL, will still take a while, or do we chase a mature bodied ruckman?

I'd love Warnock but I would not want to give up too much for him, which we would probably have to, unless he decided to nominate Carlton as his preferred destination.

Also, our glaring lack of Key Forwards is worrying me, and again it takes time to develop ones that are drafted, and I personally have pretty much given up on Adam Hartlett and I know longer believe he will be the answer.

So again, do we chase slightly older and more developed forward, as opposed to drafting another one?

Mitch Thorpe? James Seller? Mitch Brown? All are very unlikely I know, but a younger player similar to these guys that are not yet getting much of a go at their clubs could be the way to go?

Meesen has been terrible (and I imagine Melbourne will be after Wornock), Wood has been ok, King and Gardiner struggle with injuries. Hudson has been ok/pretty good (I think?).

Don't know that Warnock is the saviour? Don't know if he is that good, but in any case is under development just like Kreuzer, Hampson, Jacobs.

For these two it is just a matter of what we're prepared to give up. Fremantle and West Coast won't give them away for nothing.

I however am a bit of traditionalist and I know modern footy is played differently these days, but I would love to see a CHF to play along side Fev. Even if he isn't a huge goalkicker, but somebody who can lead up and take marks. A Richo, Nick Riewoldt style player.

We seem to have gone from boiled lollies to chocolate inthe back half with Bower, Jammo and now Austin emerging.

Waite should be released forward next year so I can't see Cloke and Kreuzer getting up there.

Agree with draft picks, best available at pick 1 then best aviable KPP at 2.

The only way I can see us getting Warnock is if we trade Fev and get extra picks, some or one of which we would on trade for Warnock or Brogan.

Sandilands was plain dumb vs us when he kept slapping the ball up to CHF over and over........Stevo and Waite had a field day just running onto it. DUMB.

Not sure I have seen anything in Warnock to suggest he will be much better, but I stand to be corrected. Gets pushed off the footy easily, and really doesn't provide much after the centre bounce.

So the way I see it, trade Fev, we may get one of these rucks. Keep Fev and we won't won't to part with our precious picks before the lockout.

I'm with you HBF....imo Warnock would be a little too pricey.

We will have to give up quality to obtain Warnock...why not make a play for one of the older competitive ruckman. Keep them for 2-3 years until the other two are serviceable.

I'd much rather keep our 1st round pick for a KPP there's a heap in this years draft. Hurley would be great could play at either end of the park. (provided he falls to our pick)

Brogan is a safer bet as a stop-gap 2-3 year solution to our hit-out problem.

Warnock has more risk vis-a-vis immediate impact but on the other hand has the potential upside to form a dominant 10+ year ruck combo of Kreuze, Warnock and Hampson.

Warnock will no doubt cost us more at the trade table, so I'm almost ambivalent, will be happy with either, esp. now that it looks like Aisake won't ever don the navy Blue.

Pretty Simple - Best available at the draft (likely to be pick 5-7) e.g. Hurley, Ziebell, Johnston,Vickery - one of those types

Don't give up first pick for Warnock. Chase one of White, Brogan or dare i say it Peter Street. We need a bulldozer ruckman with our quality mids. This will allow Kruze to go forward, hammer to come in and learn with one of the bigger experienced recruits and bye bye cameron.

Shop to off load - fish, carrazzo, hartlett (love for him to improve). IF they along with russell, wiggins stay then continue to build.

We have to delist the following as well:
Ackland
Saddington
O'Halpin x 2 ( one is a rookie)
Blackwell

Point is that we still have a lot of rubbish on our list.

i like the athletical hampson+kreuzer combo better than two big men combo with kreuzer+warnock.

we are interested in warnock as ratten has confirmed while on 'on the couch'.

Actually Peter street is a very good idea. He got 52 hitouts in the VFL last week and would last at least 3 years as he is quite young. Would at least win the hitouts.

Given Goldstein's emergence I think we could maybe trade a Carrazzo and something else for David Hale. Hale's had a bad year but I think his track record speaks for itself.

My first target would be Warnock though.
