Sorry guys. We will finish 13th. That means IMO:

1.Melb Watts
2.WCE Rich
3.PA Natanui = port are desparate for a ruckman
4.Freo Hartlett or Zieball altho would not be surprised if Yarran picked

We should try and trade Warnock to the PA or the Tankers for a 2nd rounder

Or perhaps we should just try and re-sign him? He's worth a lot more than a 2nd rounder, regardless of the strength of the draft.

I'm not too disappointed at missing either of Rich or NickNat. There will be plenty of other quality players available with both our first and second picks.

though port played well against the saints, and have melbourne as their last game, if melbourne win they will miss bottom place, which would be nice as wce would get the spoon but silly on their behalf.

If we pick Natanui, it is entirely possible that Port would overlook Rich - I heard Kevin Sheehan discussing the U18 players on ABC a couple of weeks back and he didn't rate Rich in the top 3 or 4 players available, so Port may go for someone other than Rich.

No great dramas, neither Rich nor Nat are perfect. Hartlett will do me fine.

And no, we definitely shouldn't try trade Warnock. Not unless he forces us to.

I think you mean if WC pick up Naitanui???:D

I think it's looking more like Hartlett or Ziebell.:thumbsu:

unless phil smart has another complete brain fade of the stribling/edgecombe magnitude, i think we will be pretty safe in getting a quality midfielder.

hey does anyone think deboer will drop to the second round? i honestly reckon it is a possibility

Phil Smart's been going alright, and without Schwab peering over his shoulder he'll do the right thing.
Look at Mayne, he was 40 in the draft.

I am actually hoping Nat is gone before our pick. I just don't see him being the type of player that the club needs and I don't want that temptation there. Hartlett, Ziebell or Hurley would all be very good picks. :thumbsu:

I dont think De Boer will be high on any teams shopping list if at all.

Hurley I think may be the 'dark horse' for our pick as many believe he is the 3rd or 4th best player in the draft. If Port stay below us I think they will look at him, if they dont, then I think we will have a serious look at him. He will be some player but at this stage I'm hoping for Ziebell or Hartlett!

Agreed! I've gone right off Nat and Rich looks like a plodder to me. Trade Warnock and /or Sandi and draft at least half a dozen midfielders(apart from Rich unless he falls to the second round).

Hartlett is the man we need, however if Port ends up below us they may go for him, being the local SA lad. I hope we get him however. I was very impressed by what I saw of him playing at the U18.

That's what you get past pick 55. OK, occasional gem is hidden somewhere but what are the odds. And then you hear some people wanting us to draft all the way.

:confused::confused::confused:

So 3 years development into Warnock and probably about 6 or so into Sandilands and you want to trade them away? There would be 15 clubs banging the doors down to get both of them.

Sandilands is finally getting a good understanding with his midfielders and with the addition of Hasleby, Headland and a draftee or two we could actually see how much better we operate when we're not getting flogged in the clearances week in week out.

i agree, was never a great sandi fan until this year. i would never get rid of him now, definetly one of our most important players. and warnock is so promising that we must must must keep him if possible

I won't be dissapointed at all if we can't get Naitainui.

Although I always reckon we should go for "best available" we clearly need mids above anything else.

Naita doesn't fit this requirement. And we have to use our first round pick on a ready to go player, whereas Naita looks like he may still need another year or so of development.

Seriuously? As very late picks, they probably played around the average number of games you may expect them to = 0.

Selections such as Dunn, Murphy, Collard, all fairly early draft picks who have offered very little, are what have cost us.

Why?

Yeah i dunno. Nat is a deadset freak - he could be anything. I didn't think he was much chop until i saw him in the flesh... if we have the oppotunity at 3 or 4 i think we need to take him one way or the other. If we had the no.1 pick i would say no, but at 3-4 i think its the logical choice and not as much risk.
