According to johnny mac and bjorn borg, fed is on borrowed time. With nadal, nole not getting any weaker and the likes of gulbis coming through, he is on the decline.Johnny mac clearly said, rafa is #1 is his computer...long live the new king :)

Superstar - Deserves #1 spot if he can manage to get hold of it, Djokovic will be more of a threat at the US Open, Federer's days at #1 are numbered

The only reason I dislike Rafa is because of Total Power.
Thats right, cause i always supported rafa, through and through, even when fed whipped his ass 62 62, i was still there, unlike fed fans who are nowhere to be found (hello mrs_richo, gaelictioger, geddy lee, ricketts and company) and now that success is sweet, cause of all the shit i copped from you people over the years saying "rafa doesnt have enough power, rafa will break down, he is a dud out of clay", its time for me to be celebrate, who gives a shit if you dislike me or rafa???

Accept it, when i argued with you, that 26 is the peak age for any tennis player, you made fun of me, who is right now?? history shows (except agassi), a tennis player goes on a steady decline after that. I am right and you are wrong, federer is going downhill.

Rafa will take over the world number 1 after this week, but Federer will get it back sooner rather than later.

if he loses the semi, he's #1 on August 18

this (he lost to Djokovic)

so on August 18, the list of #1 ranked players (by weeks) will be:

286 - Sampras
270 - Lendl
268 - Connors
238 - Federer

Let's see how long Rafa can keep it. At the bottom of the list:
9 - Safin
8 - Newcombe, Ferrero
6 - Muster, Ríos, Kafelnikov
2 - Moyà
1 - Rafter

So the new king failed his audition. It's tough at the top.

In my view Nadal is now the unofficial number one. Roger federer is clearly out of sorts with his game and suffering a tennis form of the yips. Beside this rafa has been inspired. It won't last. nadal's game is far too effort intensive to last years at the top but as of now irrespective of what the computer says he is the de facto number one.

In a few months at most it will be nadal.

even if Nadal's work rate will be hard to maintain, there's no guarantee that Fed will get the #1 spot back, and even if he does, maybe he won't keep it for long himself.

Perhaps the next couple years will see the #1 ranking move around every few weeks between Fed, Rafa and Novak.

Rafa is a tremendous athlete and has amazing power, but just isn't as likeable as Roger. I think the No.1 will be on a bit of a rotation for a little while

oh **** me , the guy loses a match after winning 33 matches in a row and he has failed his audition. .I have proven it here time and again, that you are the most one eyed "no clue about tennis" kind of poster.Your ridiculous calls like, rafa wont ever beat nole anywhere outside clay, he is a dud outside clay makes you look stupid now.He is the guy kicked arse of probably the best tennis player of all times on his favourite service, should have been last year but roger was lucky to escape.

Keep making those ridiculous calls, it will only make you look stupid, but also noticing the fact you are a bandwagoner, abandoned federer bandwagon already, saying he is finished.FFS the guy set such high standards that one loss in 6 means at wimbledon means he is finished  but what to expect out of federer fans anyway.

I'd say so. Rafa's going to have a hell of a time defending all these points next year.

He has no points to defend at the moment (other than 225 at the US open).. still has 2 masters series, 1 grand slam and 1 masters cup points to gain, so he can really finish the year as number 1 :)
