Watts up

SPEAKING of ankle injuries, Adelaide and St Kilda fans might remember Fergus Watts, the former first-round draft pick whose AFL career was cut short by ankle injuries. Well, Watts still plays footy, at Collegians in A-section of the ammos, but only just. You see, he has no planta fascia. (I don't know either, but it sounds terrible.) He can't train because he can barely run a lap. It takes a trainer 45 minutes to strap him up before every match, and even then he's yet to play a full game. But wait! He's still managed to kick 77 goals. With two games plus finals to go, he might become the first player with no planta fascia to kick 100. Watts this week faced a striking charge but was let off (a rarity in the ammos, where they've been known to put you out for blowing your nose), and can now take the field at home against Old Brighton tomorrow. The 23-year-old is no guarantee to play footy beyond this year, but for now he's taking it one eventful week at a time

Explains a bit as to why he struggled with us after breaking his ankle. Add to that him getting OP. A lot of people on here can the Saints for picking him, but as this shows, was more about the injury than the ability.

Fergus always had talent. But no planta fascia is seems :)

I think he get bagged by Saints fans because he wanted to come home to Daddy, and the high pick they gave away. I know that's why I bag him.

Was a skirt for leaving Adelaide, where he would've been our first choice CHF, to join a team with too many tall fowards.

Sad about his ankle though - anyone know what the crap that actually means? - he obviously had the ability.
planta fascia is a ligament that runs under the foot. i get pain there sometimes. i don't know how he doesn't have one though

We don't bag him.. Well I don't, cant speak for everyone i guess...

That high pick we gave away was Darren Pfieffer... I'm not too worried

IIRC isn't that the one Robert Harvey had trouble with?

Harveys solution was to go home and keep jumping off a chair until he broke it to relieve the pain, so it couldn't be that important.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Correct

Brad Ottens missed the first half of the season with that injury.I think a Bulldog player [Murphy ?] has had a bit of trouble with that injury this year.

Yes I believe that is the tendon that runs from the front of the foot to the heel (or thereabouts) on the underside. I don't think Harves snapped it to relieve the pain, in fact I think snapping it is quite painful. However, snapping it is the only way to begin the healing process, and it will not heal itself if only torn.

G-Train had the same injury a few years back and purposely snapped his to begin the healing process also.

The pain you get with plantar fascitis is a pressure type pain, by snapping the tendon you can get temporary relief and it starts too heal from scratch. Only problem is it does not always heal well or at all and thats where the problems begin. His problems could also stem from his ankle injuries aswell

You're right.. Banger snapped his to heal it

WATTS DOESNT HAVE ONE!!!! That's the difference...

You're not wrong. For Harvey, the injury heigtens his legend. For the fergberger, its just another excuse.

Heres hoping his baby brother is a better player.

how did he go about losing it ?

a bit of me feel sorry for him, a bit of my says suck shit mummys boy

the rest of me is just pissed off we wasted another 1st rounder on him.

No you didnt. Not really. You traded him for about the same pick you used on him, so it was more or less breakeven for the Crows.

i remember watching him kick 8 goals for the Eagles in the SANFL in a prelim final, looked awesome. Shame he got hurt

It was a lazy 10.

Probably something to do with going under the knife 15 or so times by the age of 21. The kid's endured a nightmare.

His brother is indeed Jack Watts, Just not the Jack Watts that is the next potential number 1 draft pick. His brother is 20 and playing for Uni Blues, quite the player though.
