He was did a pretty good job as an AFL commentator but wondered if he was a late replacement back up like they said who the other back ups are.
I enjoy Fineys work but have never heard him do any AFL games on SEN and wondered if he or any others have their files stamped not allowed to commentate.

I think part of the reason is that Francis Leach was away. Also, SEN actually broadcast six instead of the usual five games, which would have stretched their normal resources a little.

And I don't think you would want Mark Allan calling games - he did the final stages of the Carl-Haw game. At best, it was "so bad it was funny". At worst, it was almost unprofessional, with limited knowledge of the game and the players on the ground.

Jonty needs to speak up more. He's really just a button pusher IMO.

Stoney is often found wanting with information and barely knows who played on the weekend.
 
I think Jonty has massive potential. Him and Stoney work well in tandem and Lowther is improving immensley. This is like a rebuilding phase for SEN's All Night Sport/Appetite!!

I was sick of that "September to remember" shit last year! I would rather listen to twenty hours of National Tiles ads than that jingle. I cannot believe they resurrected it this year!

Heard it driving to work yesterday and it reminded me immediately on how much it annoyed me last year.

Shocking radio yesterday afternoon on SEN. Leigh Matthews retires, and we had conspiracy theories being thrown around by the host about him leaving because Jonathon Brown was staying, and then the exact opposite which was Brown should be annoyed because they didn't tell him Matthews was going. Then we had is Terry Wallace going to coach Brisbane, then is Leigh Matthews going to coach Richmond... I'm sure there were more, but does Doran and his prodige Matt Thompson have to look for bloody conspiracies in everything?

a sign of things to come post afl season i'm afraid. in the 4th estate BF board someone asked what do afl jounros do in the offseason. i reckon they just come up with crap to keep talking about afl. i mean, tim watson does it normally so how hard is it to bring things back to afl?

Billy said in the pre game show on Friday night that on MG, they get about 50 SMS's a day from listeners of rumoured trades and "done deals" (my favorite).

I know. Even 5 minutes after he was back in the seat yesterday I was rolling my eyes. He gets the Lions chairman (I think) on and the first thing he asks him is if the players kicked Leigh out of the job. Surely you ask something positive about a great coaching career.
He hasn't shut up about the Olympics either.

Would you shutup about it either had you been there and seen all those performances? I don't think I would shutup about it either and seeing as it is his first week back hosting I think he is entitles to talk about his experiences of the biggest sporting event in the world every 4 years.
 
I was more confused when he Doran was talking about his 10 second interview with Bolt and how it was important that you ask him something unique that the other 10,000 journalists hadn't already asked him...

They then play the clip and Doran asked him something like "So how do you feel?" :eek:

He then said he taped himself on his iphone calling the 100m himself and they will play it later in the week. Enthralling stuff.

As I said before, he was going with the line that the players might have kicked him out and then 5 minutes later he was pushing the fact that J Brown should feel upset that he signed thinking Leigh was staying... can't have it both ways.
 
Didi anyone else hear the voss interview? the man just talks in circles without a point. he also comes across as one of those people who hears a word and decides to use it but never in the right context. M. Voss = FOOL
