Hopefully this victory, if that is what happend, signals a return to form for the Meister after a long lull caused initially by illness and later I think a kind of irritation with himself as waywardness cost him point after point after point. The days of 8,000 plus ranking points are over but let's hope he can validate his unique talent by adding a 5 in a row at the second biggest rournament to his 5 in a row at the biggest and go on to break Pete's record.

However whether he wins another or not his 5 timer at the US Open added to his 5 timer in London is ample validation of a sublime tennis talent - THE sublime tennis talent.

1 nadal is found out on the faster (fastest) surfaces - and is really just a claycourt specialist who fluked a victory over a struggling federer at wimbledon. who did he beat to win the gold medal? fernando gonzales?

LOL fluked? last year federer was on the verge of going down to nadal at wimbledon. This year, rafa blew an easy 2-0 lead but came back to win in 5. But if it makes you sleep better at night, you can assume whatever you want to.
