Taking into account the value of draft picks has risen, I think Murphy alone would be worth at least an automatic top 10, possibly (if the timing is right), a top 5 pick plus at least another late first round pick.Ridiculously overrating of Murphy aside, I agree that Murphy and 2nd rounder is worth a fair bit more than harris and 1st. But, to be devils advocate and not intending to troll, that would give Carlton magical two single digit picks that WC asked for Kerr. The Q becomes, Murphy and 2nd rounder for Kerr? I think Murphy is good, so that prob still not worth it. But it is not far away. However, I wouldn't trade Pendlebury and 2nd rounder for Kerr. I guess most Carlton fans would feel the same about Murph and 2nd

North fans have a weird obsession with Marc Murphy.
It is because he was North supporter before going to Carlton,
And I reckon he's worth a first rounder.
Youse have had enough over the last few years - cough up.
Not a chance in hell. You don't trade away young players like Murphy.
Just because he followed the Roos as a kid doesn't mean he dislikes our club. Have you read his articles? He bleeds blue, and we all love him. Not going anywhere.
An incredibly shit deal even if he did want to move. Murphy deserves 2x top 10 picks and an established player.
agreed, a very shite deal.
....and somehow, clubs think they can secure kerr in a trade for only one top 10 pick and another below 20? rediculous. Kerr defacates on Murphy and he only can demand 2 top ten picks out of the possible trades in this years strong draft.
WCE2012 would pick 6 & 9 be enough for WCE do get the deal done?
We can give Carlton Harris and pick 9 (ontraded to WCE) and get Murphy in return.
People keep forgetting Harris is a great player when firing, I would consider him only behind Mitchell in clearance ability.
I must say I don't understand the North fascination with Murphy.
Not saying he isn't a fantastic talent - he is.
But why in the name of bejuggery would Carlton spend a no1 pick on a bloke, deveklop him for a few years, then trade him?
It just doesn't make sense.
And so what if he barracked for North as a kid. Jeez, it seems to me that half the AFL lists barracked for North as kids.
We'd have to offer carlton so much to get him that it wouldn't be worth it.
Now on harris - I reckon he would certainly add to carlton.
And I reckon he's worth a first rounder.
Youse have had enough over the last few years - cough up.
Daniel Harris for a first rounder ... haven't laughed as much for years. Bloody hilarious.![]()

Pick 6 for a 27 year old inside mid? I don't think that's likely to happen either.
Plus every team has a first round pick every year (unless they trade it), we're no different.
Er, priority picks?
Had to laugh at the bloke who mentioned Murphy being worth 2 top 10 picks and an established player..
He is going to be a great player, but nothing special..
Carlton wouldnt trade him, but if they were, there is no way anyone would give up 2 top 10 picks and an established player..
Would Carlton accept Harris and our first pick for Murphy and their second pick?
Carlton have plenty of mids, but could do with a genuine extractor like Harris.
Having a look through the stats to compare what Carlton would be giving up in terms of an extractor.
22 games for Murphy in 2008, 23 for Harris.
80 clearances for Murphy, 92 for Harris.
177 contested possessions for Murphy, 158 for Harris.
Pretty close really in terms of winning the hard ball in close. Considering Murphy is in his 3rd year and will only get stronger and better in contested situations, its not a very good deal.
I am sure Carlton could do with another extractor, it's just that Murphy is their 2nd best option (behind Judd) in that role.
Goals:Have to laugh at the bloke who calls a 20 year old kid nothing special when he's just had statistically a better year than Jimmy Bartel.
Goals:
Bartel: 23 goals
Murphy: 22 goals
Ave disposals:
Bartel: 28.3
Murphy: 24.6
Ave Tackles:
Bartel: 5.2
Murphy: 2.6
Sorry but stats wise its Bartel with the better season. The only area in which Murphy has Bartel covered was "marks" and "frees against"
