Taking into account the value of draft picks has risen, I think Murphy alone would be worth at least an automatic top 10, possibly (if the timing is right), a top 5 pick plus at least another late first round pick.
But successful clubs dont trade away one-club type players with Murphy's talent.

I must say I don't understand the North fascination with Murphy.
Not saying he isn't a fantastic talent - he is.
But why in the name of bejuggery would Carlton spend a no1 pick on a bloke, deveklop him for a few years, then trade him?
It just doesn't make sense.
And so what if he barracked for North as a kid. Jeez, it seems to me that half the AFL lists barracked for North as kids.
We'd have to offer carlton so much to get him that it wouldn't be worth it.
Now on harris - I reckon he would certainly add to carlton.
And I reckon he's worth a first rounder.

Pick 6 for a 27 year old inside mid? I don't think that's likely to happen either.
Plus every team has a first round pick every year (unless they trade it), we're no different.
agreed, a very shite deal.
....and somehow, clubs think they can secure kerr in a trade for only one top 10 pick and another below 20? rediculous. Kerr defacates on Murphy and he only can demand 2 top ten picks out of the possible trades in this years strong draft.

WCE2012 would pick 6 & 9 be enough for WCE do get the deal done?
We can give Carlton Harris and pick 9 (ontraded to WCE) and get Murphy in return.
People keep forgetting Harris is a great player when firing, I would consider him only behind Mitchell in clearance ability.

I know Murphy is star, but I think you are severly underating the ability of Harris.
I see Murphy as surplus to your needs if you can snare Kerr and our pick 9 might be needed to make it happen.

I think carlton would think about it, because if they have picks 6&9 it might bring some attention from the west with Warnock and Kerr over there and carlton would love to have one of them.

Had to laugh at the bloke who mentioned Murphy being worth 2 top 10 picks and an established player..
He is going to be a great player, but nothing special..

Er.. they're after the first round.
Truth is that we've only ever had two first round picks once... and we ended up trading the player we selected (Kennedy) with one of them for Judd.
Have to laugh at the bloke who calls a 20 year old kid nothing special when he's just had statistically a better year than Jimmy Bartel.

Sorry but stats wise its Bartel with the better season. The only area in which Murphy has Bartel covered was "marks" and "frees against"
Murphy kicked 14 goals for the season, not 22.
But that aside, of course Bartel's stats are going to superior. The Geelong team amassed 1300 more possessions over the course of the season than Carlton did.
When looking at it from a % point of view, Murphy had 6.9% of Carlton's possessions for season 08, Bartel had 6.8% of Geelong's total possessions. Similarly, Bartel kicked 4.8% of Geelong's goals, Murphy 4.3% of Carlton's.
