NO. Grand Final was last week. Good luck to Doon as if they dont win will be one of the greatest upsets ever. Probably no real pressure on GBAT as no expectation which can be a dangerous mix but Doon by 7 goals.

Seriously well done though to GBat as I didnt think anyone would get close. Just goes to show spending up and recruiting wont always bring the ultimate success.
Anyone got a run down of the game as this will go down as one of the all time great wins by GBAT against the odds I would think.

Doon won 10.17.77 to 11.6.72

The Bats kicked the first 3 and led by 12 pts @ qtr time and then kicked the 1st of the 2nd qtr to get out to a 3 + goal lead. The Dogs then started to find the ball and kicked the next 5 and had the chance to go 20+ pts clear but missed a sitter from 25 out directly in front. The Bats kicked the last couple before half time to go in only a kick down.

The Doon then wasted the 3rd Qtr kicking something like 2.8 could have burried them but the Bats stuck at it and were only 15pts down at orange time.

The Bats then kicked the first 3 in 9 mins to hit the front. They had all the momentum and plenty of runners, only a inspirational run down by a Dog defender stopped another goal and most likely the flag. Dunne kicked the next to put the Doon up at the 16 minute mark. Plenty of end to end stuff occured before a T Nolan mark and what looked like a late contest (penalty) but didnt matter as he kicked the Bats back into the lead @ the 23 min mark. Doon then had 2 chances to reclaim the lead but missed before Dunne took a grab 25 out and kicked the winner.

A Free kick to the Bats and play on was not allowed which I think the player kicked the goal. Ball back to the centre to the Bats who went forward before the Doon repelled and hit the boundary. 30 odd seconds later Siren sounded.

Good hard game of football. It shows if you have 21 contributors anything can happen. Its hard to know why no one got anywhere near the Dogs this year, but I suppose GF's are a different story.

Apart from the class of Dunne and some resilant defence the Bats would have won. Dogs looked slow in the forward line and skills were very ordinary.

Umpires worked hard to make it a closer contest. Anyway happy to travel to Benalla and get a good game of country footy.

sorry if i offended you there j.c my reply was aimed at only one idiot who has nothing but negative comments on this forum.as i said in a previous quote the bats boys were terrific and we probably stole the game late put it this way the best side didnt take home the premiership cup on the day but they deffinately won some fans, me included.
