HAWTHORN has moved even closer to claiming the services of Sydney Swans star Ryan O'Keefe, after the forward's management gave the team the go ahead to meet with him on Wednesday.
After meeting with O'Keefe's manager, Tom Petroro, on Tuesday night, Hawthorn has been given the go ahead to progress talks further with the classy Swan.
The Hawks have acknowledged that coach Alastair Clarkson is in Sydney and is now meeting with O'Keefe, with a view to luring the 2005 premiership player to wear the brown and gold in 2009.
It is understood O'Keefe has confirmed his interest in playing with the Hawks next season.
It is also believed Hawthorn has offered O'Keefe a reduced contract, although that has been offset by his desire to return to Victoria and play in a successful side.
Although Carlton is still hovering in the background, Hawthorn remains in the box seat.

The 2008 AFL exchange period runs from October 6-10, 2008. Please note, no trades are official until paperwork has been accepted by the AFL and formally recognised after 2pm EST on Friday, October 10.

Carlton are far too arrogant to trade anything good for O'Keefe. Pick 6 and deal would be done as simple as that, cos Carlton have the coin...

Simpson, Waite, Thornton, Walker, Betts, Fisher all can be classed as good players.

Should answer your question.

????????????? what, hey surely waite is the only one that you listed that could be classed as elite. the rest are only serviceable ( that you listed). the argument was that outside of trading and top draft picks you havent developed a great deal of talent. good players dont make great teams.... and great teams identify and develop top talent outside of the first 2 rounds of the draft. you are building a good list with great kids like gibbs, murphy etc. but you have found them by being at the bottom of the ladder. i know of fev obviously and you can probably find some others but i doubt they are anything other than ok to good players.

sorry im not trying to troll.... just think this is a valid point... feel free to disagree... provide reasonable arguments without attacking me please... and i understand you will take you success any way you can get it and i havent outlined anything that isnt well within the rules.
