It's not the most likely unless Warnock accepts it. The most likely based on what has been said so far, is that Warnock is going into the national draft.

Warnock looked all at sea on the news last night. He wants this to be over. Does he have the nerve as a guy in his early 20's to go through the national draft (waiting another few months) and have another team possibly draft him?

Is Pick 24 unreasonable? No

Is Pick 24 fair ? Not according to Fremantle which is ok as well.

Unfortunately Freo are not going to get much more than Pick 24, if they can get Pick 19 from Melbourne half there luck, but if his genuine preference is Carlton then these situations need to be addressed by at least Wednesday.

Warnock is no different to any other professional with a particular skill set. Do Plumbers have an ongoing interest or right in their apprentice once they've trained them? Do law firms tell their lawyers what to do after articles? No.

The fact of the matter is that employees walk out on businesses that have invested heavily in them all the time. It is incumbent on the business to make them want to stay but sometimes, there is nothing they can do to make them stay and that is just bad luck.

It happens all the time. Yet AFL clubs seem to think they should somehow be able to tell players what to do once their contract is up. It's ridiculous, they're not different to any other employer who has invested in their staff's development and training.

No it's not. Bower's development has been better than Warnock's. Bower has beaten more opponents. Bower was also taken at a much higher pick and was an under 18 AA CHB.

Bower means far more to Carlton than Warnock means to Carlton or Freo for that matter.

Ryley Dunn was was also taken at a much higher pick and was an under 18 AA, we will throw him in you want. Warnock and Dunn for 6 and bower. I may even accept 24 and bower if you throw another pick in

Of course I can see a preference for drafting locally, but in reality more players are drafted out of state and stay for a significant period of time than not. If you have a good club and good people there, you back yourselves to draft best available and keep them

Our best offer is 18 and we think (given its effectively a late first round pick) that its fair. Gibbs refuses to deal with any other club and in fact pisses off overseas.

Everyone tells Carlton that while promising and arguably worth a Top 10 pick (although its a really strong draft), the offer is the best they will get from West Coast and they can take him at 2 in the PSD and the Blues get nothing.

People point out that the Eagles could get a Top 10 pick but, in this draft that would mean giving up a Kerr or Cox .....

So Carlton need to be reasonable, respect the wishes of their player, who looks a gun but with only 20 to 30 games under his belt isnt elite yet and really a late first round pick is probably fair and the best the Eagles can do...

Obviously they can decline, but then its the PSD where (assuming overlooked by the Dees who cant afford his asking price) the Eagles with pick 2 can take him for free.

What would Blues fans think of this?

Exactly, larrikin. If we bend over for 24, chances are the player we get at 24 might well be a Victorian lad, because picks 18 & 20 will almost certainly be WA boys. Given he's going to be a superstar (based on Blues fans opinions of pick 24), then in 2 years time Carlton will be speaking to his manager.

It was stated on radio last night that we have softened our position from pick 6, which is sensible. We now want a pick inside West Coast's PP/2nd round picks.

Why don't Carlton ask Melbourne what they want for pick 17/19? If pick 24 is not much better than 17/19, what about giving them 24 + fringe. Can't see Melbourne doing that? Me neither. Carlton want cream for the price of water.

There is a big difference between offering pick 24 for Warnock, and 18 for Gibbs.

Its not like me or you in the work force. A AFL player is more like a house the a employee. Hes a asset which they can on sell to other companies for something of value. If I quit work do I get sold to my next employer...

Soccer teams consider players as assets with monetary value. Why would it be so different for a AFL player

Rubbish mate, there is 4 picks difference considering the Dockers have one in between. It is very even from late 1st round to the end of the second IMO, Kevin Sheehan recognizes the same things saying 32 of the top players are worthy first rounders, i think he'd have a little more of an idea about talent than you would.
