Isn't bombersno1 one of the people who were advocating that we tank in order to get Rich?

How ironic that we could have actually won more games and still selected him.

i've only just jumped on, so forgive me if this has been said..
in 2006 Joel Selwood slipped to #7 and went on to win the Rising Star.
in 2007 Rhys Palmer 'slipped' to #7 and went on to win the Rising Star.
in 2008 Daniel Rich slipped to #7 and... Could it be two years in a row that the EFC has missed out on the Rising Star?
Having said that, I'm extremely happy with Myers, and Hurley looks promising.

but.

I am outraged! we passed up on a potential A grade midfielder. A hole that we desperately needed to fill.

You don't break games open with backmen. You do that in the midfield!

If you have a excellent mids, and excellent forward, then the back line gets a lot of that pressure taken off them- look at Hawthorn!

I'm absolutely shocked that we let Rich slip- and I hate the sentiment that we were filling a hole.

We HAVE a huge hole in our midfield for that A grade midfielder.

We HAD the chance to pick one up.

And we walked right on by.

Great comment...I watched one of Hurley's highlight packages a few weeks ago.

Firstly it took me a while to figure out if he was a left or right footer because I saw him kick it 45+ meters comfortably on both feet.

Secondly this kid looked so comfortable kicking from the fullback line out, it was very impressive.

Thirdly, the way he used the ball out of the backline reminded me quite a bit of Dustin Fletcher.

As I have said before, Rich has been hyped up to be something that he is not. I think he will be a long term player for Brisbane, but he is no Joel Selwood
