Re: Out With the Old and In With the New

Any other tall forwards from this squad

Of course the Hawks have Langford...

AIS-AFL Academy names new intake of 30

We'll just have to draft another gun mid if we miss out on a KPP.

LOL.

I can tell you that Alex Keath is a supastar. Is 6'4 runs like the wind, marks well and is a beautiful left foot kick. Can play both footy and cricket equally well. Has captained Victoria in Under age cricket up to U16, had sponsorship with County for 4 years and plays A grade cricket (where he made a ton and took wickets) when 14 yo. Freak basketballer as well, but looks to have chosen footy as his main sport. Polled 14 best on grounds out of 15 games (he didnt play in the other one) two years back. Played footy and cricket (scored three tons in a row, i believe) at Melbourne Grammar this year after receiving a scholarship (cricket) but played football for Vic Country up at Qld this year. Last year he played for Vic Metro i think. Anyway, my mail is that he has signed with GC. Can we find out on the web if that is true? Anyone else have an opinion of him?

Re: Out With the Old and In With the New

Josh Zebrekk

Height: 186 cm
Weight: 82 kgs
Position: Inside midfielder

A complete player, compared to both Chris Judd and Luke Hodge. Tallish inside midfielder, damaging on both feet and breaks the lines. Averaging 28 disposals his efficiency was in the top 10% and averaged 1.2 goals per game. Vert versitile - can play on the half forward and half back flanks.

Very explosive and speedy although needs to work on his tank. Apart from that, the complete player.

I'm pretty sure that Gold Coast can only sign local kids at this stage, so there is no way Alex Keath could have signed with them.

You seem to know a lot about him though. Can you please tell me his favourite TV show and subject at school?

Alex is only eligible in 2010, Vic Country captain U16's and AIS in 2008.

He's 196cm and a great combo of footy smarts and athleticism, with a good sensible head on his shoulders.

A lot can happen between now and 2010, but he's as promising a tall 16yo as there's ever been, but still 2 years away.

difference is Butcher is more of a footballer than an athlete. Unlike Watts who only recently committed to footy recently, Butcher has lived and breathed footy since he was born. Obviously still a long way to go, but he is definitely a cantidate for pick 1 next year

I've heard his kicking is atrocious and it's rubbishness lost his side a few games this year.

Thoughts?

he should be very good in 2010 but i think clubs will have queries over his kicking but he has a very good handball. also people aren't sure where he'll play for school this year he played on a wing and played very welll as a year 10 in 1sts footy. next year it looks like he could play CHB also he's bulking up a fair bit at the moment so could also puch into the rucks if he grows a bit and could play key forward for school although unlikely becasue we already have two potential draftees who have already been mentioned on here in luke mitchell and steven may who will play their

'Bundy' Christensen from Geelong Falcons is another one to keep a close eye on next season.. next years version of Steven Hill/Chris Yarran. really classy player and unlike most indigenous players he seems to find 20+ possessions on a regular basis, whilst still possessing that typical flair and class that most aboriginal/indigineous players seem to possess.. a real top 10 pick chance.

Yep looks a player one I would love at the Eagles next year, related to Michael Long I believe.
He is pretty hard at it as well.
Vic Country should be very good next year in the championships.

mmm not a totally unfair call to be honest. generally he is a good kick but he's one of those blokes who are either on or they're not (eg. Riewoldt).. i don't think he cost Power any games this year but yeah he has missed very kickable goals from time to time. kicked 7.7 and 2 OOBOTF in one game haha:p

he has an awkward bend in his knee sometimes when he has a shot, but i'd hardly call him an "atrocious" kick.

Weller, Lucas, Butcher and Scully look top 4 for 09 IMO.

Butcher 1 due to his size and KPF
Scully and Lucas will probably fight for pick 2 and 3 whilst i havnt seen anyone like scully before in AFL or as a youngster who knows where to position himself front and square, he has a football mind like a genius. Weller has the potential to be number 1 as he is younger and could be something really special as he is very versatile. Morabito clubs just love him and will probs be a pick 5 or 6.

Also i rate B.Sheppard hugely what are thoughts on him getting drafted?? I reckon he is close to Morabito and Lucas and will push for a top 10 pick, also very versatile player needs to improve tank to play midfield and become a high pick. Mark hutchings the new D.Rich will be top 10 from WA and East Perth?? and not many will know about him

Weller isn't elig till 2010.

Dunno about Shep being a top 10 pick at this stage ... hasn't really stood out to me any of the times I've seen him live ... still early days, he is pretty skinny, could grow a bit and push on in a big way next year.

Hutchings is a solid goer and was good to see him rewarded for strong performances in the colts, but don't think he comes close to Rich's level of talent ... hard to get a good grip on where he'd be ranked as you could probably only throw up about 25 or so names ATM accross the country.

09 top 3 in WA based on 2008 are clearly Lucas, Morabito and Duncan IMHO.

thoughts about tom hill, alot of talk of him going mid 30s in this year draft should be a walk in for top 25 next year?

Rioli's i think as well.
Very rich blood line. Uncles are damien and marty christensen who both played for geelong with 20 and 60 odd games. His father was also a super country footy player

Luke Tapscott North
Jack Trengove Sturt
Matthew Thompson Sturt
Wilson Sturt
Matthew Goldsworthy Eagles
Arnfield Glenelg
Solly Port
Kirkwood port
Silverlock West
Davis- Neale south

There the SA Boys

Tapscott, Davis-Neale, Wilson, Silverlock, Thompson, Kirkwood were all eligible this year for the draft and didnt get picked up.

There are better players than them going around at the moment, Goldsworth is to small and to slow, Arnfield is a bit of an in betweener at the moment and is a man playing against boys. SIlverlock is very very lazy but can be brilliant at times.

Tapscott and Thompson were definitely not eligible this year.

ah brendan's son - was wondering if that was the case. makes sense as brendan played for st marys in the NT during the summer months - obviously where he shacked up with the female relation of the longs/riolis. more recently he coached grovedale in the GFL. young christensen will have been well educated with his father and uncles (damian and marty) having many years of experience at coaching various sides from u/18s to seniors.

looking at it like a racehorse he'll get the speed from the mothers side and the aerobic capacity from the sire line. i'll be catching up with the grovedale boys around xmas time - will have to ask about this young colt.
