He is yet to play a game as a midfielder and is playing as a loose man in defence, the easiest & most unaccountable position in football. Why would we put a HBFer from a bottom 8 side into our midfield?

you have not watched him play have you? i mean to opposition supporters he is at least a tagger so i don't know were you got loose man in defence from.

try watching someone play before commenting buddy:thumbsu:

I have never commented on Gibbs and nor have i seen tonights game.
The crap on here about him has been outrageous.
He can play and he will continue to play.
As mentioned above he is only 19.
Shame he plays for freakin carlton.

this is about the only sensible thing that has been said in this thread:thumbsu:

Overrated. Racks up cheap uncontested possessions off the half back line. big deal.

Gibbs is nothing short of amazing. He will be Carlton's best midfielder by the end of the year.

One of the best prospects I've ever seen, if not the best (bear in mind, I just missed the break throughs of Buckley/Hird etc).

Brownlow odds please.

I agree he has great skills and all the rest of it but I was at the game tonight and couldnt help but notice the amount of cheap possessions he racks up. I will rate Gibbs when i see him get his own footy like a murph or judd.

overated

not to say he isn't a good player, hes good will be very good but hes pumped up ridiculously, best prospect ever indeed :o

He's spent 2 years perfecting his game tagging (and towards the end of 2008 destroying) some of the game's best players.

This year he will get the recognition for the ability Carlton fans have seen for a long time.

He will easily eclipse Selwood.

He didn't have an opponent all night.

And that's unusual for someone playing in the midfield? Teams will only ever tag 1 or 2 midfielders, they can't afford to tag anymore. Judd will always draw the first tag & if there is to be a second tag, at this stage Stevens or Murphy will draw it. Expect this to change rapidly though, as Gibbs plays most of this season in the midfield.

Personally I would love it if opposition coaches disrespect Gibbs like the 'experts' on BF. He is extremely damaging with the ball in his hands. The more often he gets it, the better chance that one of his teammates will be on the end of his pinpoint disposal.

So players like Shaw and Goodes last year failed to touch the ball because Gibbs was sitting all alone in defence?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: there might be some Gibbs doubters/haters left out there, but week by week, club they'll club, they'll be converted. :thumbsu:

So i'm guessing none of you rate Luke Hodge as a footballer??

You've just proven to the world you don't have a clue. Thanks for the laugh. :D
