I know it's the tradition for winning team supporters to pump up the tyres of one of their own, but I just think it's pretty relevant in O'Hailpin's case, the Big Irishman's career was over in the eyes of many after his pre-season stoush with Cam Cloke, but since he's returned from the Bullants, his last month for the Blues has been solid, culminating in a near BOG performance against the Dockers ...

Took several great marks, and Kicked 4 goals (and really should have kicked 5, missed an sitter) and he has often been very much maligned here at BF, but I'd like neutral fans to actually acknowledge the hard work and improvement in his game, especially since his debut a few years ago, and even more impressive, how he has managed to turn his career around after that unfortunate incident pre-season ...

Has become a firm fan favourite amongst the Carlton fans ...
I believe he has now shown he can be a decent player at AFL level, and if it wasn't for his efforts today, we really would have struggled to win, esp with our appalling kicking at goal, and Fev being a bit out of sorts again.

He's still cringeworthy.

If you're asking neutral supporters to give him some sort of credit, I think it'll be in short supply.

Seconded. Improving, but he'd want to after so long on the list. And yes, he's cringeworthy.

I have to admit it was a pretty handy performence for a young kid.

I'm sure as he matures he could very well develop into an OK footballer.

Fair's fair, you want everyone to acknowledge the improvment of Richard Tambling (and he has become a decent player this year for the Tigers) after years of mediocre performance, but really I should have known the 'bitter tall poppy' BF syndrome would strike again.

I don't need to start threads about Tambling's improvement. It's obvious for everyone to see.
But go ahead about Setanta. One four-goal effort against Freo is hardly Brownlow winning stuff. Good on him though. If he can keep improving then good luck to him. I don't think he'll be much of a player.

Clearly you don't watch Carlton much do you ???

I watch enough footy. As I said, he is improving slowly. I don't think he has much more improving in him. Why do you care so much about my opinion CP?

Was at the game today, O'Hailpin skills are not great but I'll give him credit he has a red hot crack and presents well on the lead. Unlike Freo players who just stood flat footed after the first qtr.

For a bloke who hadn't kicked a footy until 5 years ago he's doing ok.
Suppose you can kick 50m on your non preferred foot.
All the other Irish players have come from a Gaelic footy background, he comes from a hurling background. What he has achieved is sensational.

Would not get a game at 13-15 other clubs. Carlton have to persist because he represents a significant investment.

Very average footballer at best.

But he'd be a walk up start at collingwood ..if cam wood can get a game then almost any big man can .

Ps. your sig is a joke..pretty much like everything you post .

A good game but the shockers have no legit KP defenders. Next step is for him to have a good game against a real defender.

Cam Wood doesn't get a game, so nice try.
Setanta would struggle to get a game at most clubs, if he can continue to improve that might change but for now he has a long way to go.

he is starting to show that he can become handy around CHF as he can take good marks. He needs to learn to pass the ball to a running player who is a good kick so they can enter the 50 and kick to leading forward or have a shot. He seems to hold it up after taking the mark and then the forwards have led and all he does is kick it to the square making it hard for Fev who usaully has 2 or more defenders on him then.

He could become dangerous around goal in a few years, if he improves his strength and fitness he might make it as a power forward, I still believe there is hope for the big irishman

He did alright, I'm happy for him to continue improving. He's a better option than Cloke at the very least.

Yeah, I don't think anyone except maybe Carlton fans care about this game given what else was on this afternoon. Surprised Carlton won, Freo had it under control in the 3rd when I had it on.

Freo did not have "control" of the game since the 2nd quarter, we were getting it in often enough but just couldn't convert. There was a massive swing in momentum after the 1st quarter.
