Hopefully Manhattan and a few other top ones do line up in the Danehill...it could be the last time for the spring we get decent odds on the Caviar.
I forgot about one - First Command - might be back this weekend, hasn't been tested yet but everything has done has been dominant.
How good was Efficient today, made up ground on the shit part of the track.
The Denman bubble will burst quickly. The 2nd & 3rd placegetters appeared to be mowing him down last start and they are nowhere near the class of horse he'll take on in the Spring.
Can I bump this one more time mate, on the back of his first G1 win?![]()
Yeah looks as though they will...Ha ha I just logged on to bump it myself.
Happy to admit I was very wrong in this instance.
Are they heading to the Guineas or is that it til the autumn?
THE dust has barely settled following Denman's devastating Golden Rose triumph but Peter Snowden already has his sight on a possible tilt at the Group One Caulfield Guineas.
The strapping son of Lonhro revived memories of his champion father with a dominant display to claim the $1 million race at Rosehill Gardens last Saturday.
And while yet to confirm whether Denman would definitely head towards the Guineas, Snowden indicated the Darley pin-up horse is likely to be given his shot against the best three-year-olds in the country at Caulfield on October 10.
"I think we will probably head that way at this stage," he said.
"We will have a round-table discussion in the next 24 hours to work out what is best for the horse. He has such a laid-back attitude and is doing everything so easy. He pulled up great this morning.
"You have got to look at races like this with a realistic view, and how valuable they can be to a horse like him, who could quite possibly be a stallion of the future.
"He is only three once and the horse is obviously in form.
"The way he settled, a mile won't be a problem.
"But if the horse tells us he has had enough, that will be it."
If Darley agree to press on with Denman it is expected he will have a short break before competing in the Group Two Stan Fox (1400m) at Randwick on September 26 before heading to Melbourne for the Guineas a fortnight later.
Denman's Golden Rose win has tightened his grip on betting for the Caulfield Guineas with TAB Fixed Odds. He has firmed from $6 to a clear $4 favourite and would be a bad result for the betting agency.
"He has been the best backed runner by far," TAB Sportsbet's Glenn Munsie said.
"He kicked off his racing in Melbourne too which helps because punters know he will have no trouble adapting to their going."
Munsie said Denman had firmed from $51 to $18 for the Cox Plate.
Golden Slipper winner Phelan Ready, a disappointing 14th in the Golden Rose, was put through extensive testing but vets failed to pinpoint any major problems with the horse.
Accordingly trainer Jason McLachlan is continuing with his Caulfield Guineas plans with the horse to leave for Melbourne tomorrow.
"I'm at a loss to explain what happened," he said.
"I had the vet look over him for about three quarters of an hour and he found nothing. We are totally mystified. He ate up well last night and there doesn't appear any reasons not to press on to Melbourne now."
Connections of Golden Rose runner-up Trusting, winner of the Warwick Stakes only seven days prior, are likely to resist the temptation of heading towards the Guineas and send the horse out for a spell.
Kenny Callander makes a good point.
Enjoy DENMAN while we can, he'll be in Dubai this time next year.
