Rich - Poor when it counts

Almost as good as the one the Naitanui can't kick, that you yourself are guilty of 'propagating'...

Considering that I haven't actually said this particular thing, and that the evidence DOES in fact show that Naitanui doesn't have particularly good foot skills (as opposed to a doctored clip of Cale Morton which is patently a misrepresentation of the truth), what's your point exactly...

Its a shame that Wonna never turns his mirror on himself when he goes on his moral rants.

I love how he ebbs and flows between standard Bay13 troll and crusader for truth, justice and fairness at a minutes notice. You never know which Wonna will show up.

Yup... plus...

- learning to read the play
- learning techniques to deal with taggers
- learning the Brisbane gameplan
- the general improvement that just comes with further experience at AFL level.
- consistency

The real question is... what is it about other players that make people think that Rich has limited upside. Being underdeveloped doesn't necessarily = upside, otherwise we'd be drafting toddlers.

Rich has shown that he has the ability to play 30+ disposal games. The general consensus is that 30 disposals for Rich is going to break a game open. He has fluctuated between 12 disposal games and 30+ disposal games and averages around 18. Like most young players, there is a considerable gulf between his best and his worst. Yet for some reason he will struggle to become more consistent because why??? Because he's already physically developed? LMAO.

The argument that he has no upside is the product of nothing more than wishful thinking and groupthink.

Smell the fear. :D

Spot on, plus in his first year he has shown a willingness to work hard and attempt to shake a tag with sheer determination. Great signs for the future, despite his so-called 'limited upside' :thumbsu:

Im afraid its all downhill from here for the fat little butterball.

Even Wonna33, one of the most biased posters on BigFooty, admitted that Rich has been better than all bar 6 of your players this year. It makes no sense for Melbourne supporters to be trolling him.

Sticking with the "playing the man" tactic there I see Grim... at least you could summarise my post correctly when you do that though.

I never said that there were only 6 of our players who have had more success than Rich.

To reinforce what I did actually say, out of those players in our squad who were able to play close to a full season, 6 of them would compare very well with Rich, if not more than that number.

Epic fail for the Lions here. They had the opportunity to draft the local lad from the Coast, who slid past their 2nd Pick & he only polled 1 less vote than their first pick.

Yet we drafted Jack Redden who is 18 months younger, only averages 2 less disposals than Beams (but wins more contested possessions) and averages more tackles.

Massive loss there.

LMAO at people calling Beams a Simon Black clone. Redden is the one. Watch him play and you'll see. Utterly fearless and extracts the pill. Jason Dunstall has a massive man-crush on him already. :D

Epic fail indeed.

Redden is amazing for such a young kid. In 18 months he'll be considerably ahead of where Beams is now.

More?

The fact that you had Cale Morton suggests that you were already stretching with 6.

I'll respond to that when you address this..

Daniel Rich - 22 Games - 6 Brownlow Votes - A Brownlow vote every 3.6 Games. Pick 7 (ex WA).
Dayne Beams - 16 Games - 5 Brownlow Votes - A Brownlow vote every 3.2 games. Pick 29 (ex QLD).

Do you think Beams is a better player than Sidebottom?

Looks good to me, Rich the highest vote getter from last years draft IIRC. Now for the reply you promised?

Are you actually implying that Beams was better than Rich? Incredible.

If by chance you really need an explanation - Rich would have been in the top 8 or so on the ground on many other games that he played, yet gets no recognition because of the voting system. Beams was very much hot and cold - the games he didn't poll he likely had very little impact on the game.

Rich > Beams.

That's a tough ? to ponder. Unlike Daniel Rich, Steele Sidebottom didn't impersonate Chuck Norris & go MIA (in September). 30 disposals on Bernie Vince, who was the inform player of the AFL, in a finals win & easily our best player.

Rich on the other hand was a flop in September (as the thread indicates, poor when it counts):thumbsu:

Still waiting mate...

If you take out the St Kilda and Geelong games, Sidebottom had a very good finals series.
