I really really hoped that we wouldn't give away pick 16, but effectively, losing Lovett for Williams, 24 + 33 seems alright. As always, we'll have to wait and see I guess. Good luck Williams, I hope you can bag us 50+ goals next year!
Re:Gumbleton in the forward line, I would play him at CHB to start with to get him behind the play and let him adjust back into AFL footy. Putting him at CHF might be setting him up for failure (straight away anyway). Hurley is more than capable of holding CHF in the pre-immenient future.

Good to get Williams, but still scathing my head here a bit, wasn;t Nash going to be one of our big gun forwards for years to come and one of the main reasons why Lloyd did not fit into the forward line make up

Considering he's only ever averaged a max 12 possessions a game I'd say he can only play one position and one only.

Nope.
He is very similar to Lloyd actually. When pushed up the ground his main attributes are lost.
His ability to know when to lead, his speed off the mark, and his goal kicking are his weapons.
Leave him uas your lead-up forward and he will be in the top 5 in goal kicking next year. Push him up the ground and you will have Lloyd mark II (i.e retired too young)...
At worst it was feasible that Lovett might have gone to the pre-season draft and Nash delisted for nada.
Instead we get Williams to replace Lovett and pick 24 for Nash... and a pick upgrade from 42-33.
Could argue that Lovett is a more damaging player but that would overlook the fact that Lovett is never likely to kick 50-70 goals in a season like Williams.

It's a combination of the shotgun, the Choco choke and the fact that we aren't supposed to be recruiting players with questionable character... and he's played 30 out of 60 games the last 3 years.
This could be the end for Knighter - Atkinson, Skipworth and now Williams
At least Sheeds got all his guys for nothing in the PSD.

If we hadn't traded pick 16 to Hawthorn, the Hawks would not have had a satisfying proposition and thus Burgoyne would have been left to us... and we could have played hard ball!

We desperately needed goalkickers and we've got a proven one who's not going to get in the way of any of Gumbleton, Hurley and Neagle depending on which combination we use. Looking at our goalkickers list last year, we had 1 guy kick over 30 and 3 over 20, and of those 4, only Monfries remains. We needed another forward option and we've got one. His knee's been an over hanging issue, but it seems the club's pretty confident it's okay so I'm willing to back that judgement.
A touch disappointed to lose pick 16, but not because we used it to get Williams, moreso because it seemed a possibility to get Williams cheaper, clearly it wasn't.
Can definitely see him in red and black, not sure on a number yet though.
Overall, I think he fills another piece in the puzzle. I still think we're a class midfielder short, and to be honest I don't think that player's currently on our list, but aside from that, I think we're building fairly well.

I have watched nearly every Hawk game for a decade and Williams is a very, very good player.
You will get a nice suprise.
The Lions supporters said the same thing when we got Cupido, look how that turned out. I was one of the few Bombers who wasn't happy with that decision either, I have a sixth sense about these things.
