on the surface this looks like a good pick up,l don't much about marcus drum but a defender that has been playing for a few years and is still only 22 looks like the cats did well out of the trade.its not like the cats go after players they seem to want to draft kids manly and train them up.but with them going after j smith they might think there are any defenders in the draft they could get there mits on.and what was geelong hand in the Burgoyne trade?

We have to de-Freo him AND Steve Johnsify him.

His stats for this year (from the AFL site) aren't anything to write home about, but then not too bad either, but then they don't indicate what sort of stopping job he did or how much game time he had.

5 games...averaged 14 poss. 4 marks, 3 tackles, 0 goals, 4 contested poss, disposal eff about 75%, 1.5 clangers, 1 inside 50, 2 rebound 50s, 4 1%
 
He cymbalizes Geelong's new youth oriented defensive direction. Should be jumping out of his skin with anticipation; let's hope he picks up the rhythm quickly. An ideal Harley replacement; should eventually take Toms place. I think that's quite enough, though I wonder if anyone can guess Drum's favourite type of fish.

Marcus Drum. Great Pick-Up

I am so happy that our recruiting Gurus went with the Marcus drum pick-up. I think that he is a great choice. He is young, tall, Strong, a top ten draft pick, a Geelong Supporter as a kid and can play down Back or up Forward .All this kid needs is a chance which he obviously did not get over in the West. His attitude is outstanding and now that he appears to be over his Hamstring injuries I believe that he is exactly the sort of player that we need to go forward and claim another Flag. Apparently he is just so excited to be at Geelong ( and why wouldn't he be) and has stated that all he needs is chance to prove his worth. Exactly the sort of player that we need at the moment. I hope that he delivers but this one makes me feel good and confident about our future. I would be interested in anyone else's opinion on him. Great choice I think. This is a huge pick up for Geelong, very sad about Mumford going, but there you go. GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsu::)

Can play, just has a terrible attitude, which means Geelong will be the perfect place for him. Scarlett and co. won't tolerate any head dropping or half assedness.

He's certainly saying the right things. I'd love to see him back it up on the training track and in the NAB cup. He'll have his chance.

I was going to nominate it for best post on BF ever, though it'd probably just be shaded by Vinnie's opening salvo in the 'Worst 200 game player' thread.
