Looks like we have Melbourne Round 1, this is good considering buddy and bateman are out. What are your thoughts? who do we want to play twice next season?

It appears to be good news on the surface that we have the Dees first up, minus Buddy and Changa, but they can not be discounted either.
They are building a very very good side down there at Demonland and will only get better after they add Scully and Trengove who are both walk up starts for round 1 next year IMO.

I would like to see us play all last years top 8 twice.

If we are fully fit, and fingers crossed we are, we will win most of those games anyway.

Dont want a dream (easy) draw on the way to our 2010 premiership
Dont want to give any opposition supporters anything to fuel a debate about flukey or lucky premierships again.

Good post. I like reading posts of supporters realistic about their team. While i expect that your mob will win (if it is in fact true we play round 1), it will be a good measuring stick of each club stance, after each coming of disappointing seasons 2009. Good also to see you want a run which will get you respected as well, best of luck.

I'm hoping for a slightly easy run in the first half of the season to get the boys confidence up after last season and then a tough run heading into the finals to really prepare the boys for finals football.

I wish for a good start to the season.
It is important to win the early games, it will give us the confidence for the rest of the season. Having said that, i don't think our first game against melbourne will be a walk in the park.

While I expect you guys to win, I note with interest that the 3 Hawthorn players that always kill Melbourne won't be playing:

Buddy, Williams and Changa.

We then go to the MCG to play the Cats in Round 2.

Will be good to play them with Buddy and Changa back.

Providing he doesn't occur some other injury, he will be fine Round 1. Modified program up until Christmas, then full training when everyone is back from their Christmas break.

We will be awesome to watch with him, Rioli, and Franklin. Three of the best aborginal players going around.

That is a quality list of players right there. to think only 10 years ago we didnt have any aboriginals, without those players we wouldnt be half as good. congrats to pelchen and buckenara for taking the risk of drafting these players, it has paid off.

Good call about the game being a measuring stick WGFY. Am really looking forward to seeing Gibbo & Burgs in brown & gold for the first time and the debut of whichever 2 guns you boys pick up.
Think that we should win but it wont be easy, especially with Buddy & Changa out but it wouldn't have been like 08 rnd 1 even if they were. The Dee's are on the cusp of a great run, good luck. Hope you have a winning streak that starts in round 2......

Just to clarify, Gibson isn't indigenous. One of his parents are from the Windies I think.

It makes me laugh, Essendon fell into the top 8 on default, and they think they're a top team. Essendon will be lucky not to end up in the bottom 4 in 2010. Very ordinary team.

If you'd posted that last year then perhaps it would have made sense but you are coming off two hidings from Essendon

Where is the false bravado coming from? Both teams are pretty even and after the beatings we handed out this year a bit more respect would surely have to be deserved?

The AFL better give us two games against Hawthorn.
