Adelaide Oval, December 4 - 8
Collapso Kings has been the cry after the very ordinary effort shown by the West Indies, batsmen mainly, at the Gabba, with calls to help the West Indies team, though as Ricky Ponting pointed out - its been 21 years since anyone beat Australia at the Gabba and there has been alot of hidings in between.
There won't be any excuses for their batsmen here, every batsmen's favourite ground to bat on in Australia - the Adelaide Oval. Not for the first time, there is talk of more grass being on the wicket, but it is hard to believe that by 10am tomorrow you will be seeing any of that left. Couple of decisions for the West Indies selectors - Sarwan is fit (well fit enough) so do they drop his replacement Dowling, or former Qld struggler, who looked totally out of his depth at the Gabba, Brendan Nash. The money says Dowlin. Taylor has gone home so youngster Gavin Tonge, or bowler with a little more batting ability Darren Sammy will vie for his spot.
For Australia, Shane Watson will enjoy opening up somewhere away from the Gabba, where has more ducks than run scoring appearances. But failure here and he will find himself under the gun, with a quick to turn Australian media (and public!) not holding much love for the blonde Queenslander turned Tasmanian turned Queenslander turned New South Welshman.
Mike Hussey made another solid knock, but that won't do much to keep speculation about his spot down. 1 change for the bowling attack with reliable Ben Hilfenhaus having knee tendinitis, so former bald eagle Doug Bollinger makes it a dual left armed attack. It also means Australia loses its control bowler, and with the short square boundaries they won't want to let Chris Gayle get in control, or it will be leather chasing time.
