If our selectors were to start to take this format of the game seriously how would our side look. Guys like Clarke would probably miss out. My side would look like this.

D.Warner
S.Watson
S.Marsh
C.White
D.Hussey
B.Haddin
S.Smith
J.Hastings
M.Johnson
D.Nannes
S.Tait

Yeah that looks like a really good side, pretty much the only form of the game Tait can perform well in. Warner will be good, Dirk Nannes got smashed for 40 last night.

Love your signature by the way, I'm in the mother f*cking house!

S Marsh
D Warner
R Ponting
M Hussey
D Hussey or C White
B Haddiin
J Hopes
M Johnson *
N Hauritz
A Heal / N Bracken (Depending on the pitch)
S Tait

* Jury is out on his bowling in this format

You have to remember that a lot of the international players don't get to play in the domestic comp.

Tait was half the reason we won the World Cup... that's 50 over cricket :thumbsu:

I don't believe Johnson can play in 20/20, but Bracken should be for sure.

Yeah that was before he couldn't complete 10 overs last summer, he's a good player if he is fit, but if he isn't..

S.Marsh
Warner
Watson
White (c)
D.Hussey
Haddin/Ronchi
S.Smith/Hopes
Johnson
Hauritz/Heal
Bracken
Tait

Can't believe the amount of people not naming at least one or two spinners - given how epically our all pace attacks have failed in the past.

S. Marsh
Watson
M. Hussey
D. Hussey
Clarke
White
Haddin/Paine
Johnson
Smith
Bracken
Tait

Marsh
Haddin

M. Hussey
White
Voges
Ronchi/Paine/Ferguson/S. Smith
Hauritz/Heal/Hopes
Johnson
Bracken/Harwood/Geeves/McKay
Tait/Lee/Nannes

I guess I'd also be happy with a combination of that group of players. If we're taking T20 seriously making Clarke captain was a shocking decision, he's just not a T20 batsman and his record backs this up.

Also I'd be happy for Ronchi/Paine to be included in the team as well as Haddin, their hitting speaks for itself.

Younger guys like Mitch Marsh and Warner, could also be put in there if they want some more youth in there.

S. Marsh

C White
M. Marsh
Paine
S. Smith
Johnson
Hauritz
Bracken

Some of the teams are pathetic!

Have a look in the current test team for starters. They are in the national side for a reason.

I'd pick the test XI for the T20 over most of the squads named in here.

The only reason guys like Ponting and Hussey shouldn't be in the side is if they want a break from cricket.

M Marsh? S SMith? you have to be joking (or 14)

Smith has a better chance to get a game in 20/20 then Hauritz.

And i assume the 20/20 team will try out new players like M.Marsh.

Maybe in a year or two when he's made runs

he currently has played 3 matches, batted twice and made stuff all runs

Steve smith can't bowl yet and there are much better batsmen.

in fact the way dom thornley bowled the other night - he should be in the squad - bowled exactly like johan botha - yorker darts on off stump

Almost everything about this post is flawed.

Did India play their test team when they won the first ever T20 championship? Do they still now? Do you see Dravid and Laxman donning the coloured kit?

Pakistan also have several specialists in Afridi and Nazir for starters. They unearthed Aamer through T20 cricket.

Steven Smith will play ODI cricket for Australia this summer. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him play all T20's this summer. Mitch Marsh maybe not quite, but he's on the improve... if he can dish out a few more impressive performances much like Warner last year, then he could well be in with a chance for a T20 somewhere along the line.

Ponting has retired from T20 cricket if you didn't already know. Micheal Hussey, I doubt, will play much T20 cricket for Australia again, if at all.

Clarke will be there, hes captain. As for the side, it depends if we are serious about winning the T20 WC or still see it as a breeding ground. If its the latter then we need to go fully towards that way and not half way.

So:
Serious
Marsh/Warner
Watson
Clarke
Haddin
White
M Hussey
D Hussey
Johnson
Hauritz
Lee when fit/Nannes/McKay
Tait/Nannes/McKay depends on how Tait is going

Breeding:
Marsh
Warner
Watson
White
Mitch Marsh
Steven Smith
Ronchi/Wade
Johnson
Hauritz
McKay/Hastings
Tait

Warner.

Played his first 20/20 match without playing first class cricket and only about 5~ odi games.

look at the scores and the records warner put on in those 5 games.

marsh is nowhere near that yet

made a 60 and a 90 - a long way to go yet

The only thing flawed is your interpretation.

WTF has laxman and dravid got to do with it?

I didn't say I'd pick the test x1 as the team - just that i'd prefer it to some of those picked in here.

I didn't realise ponting had retired, just googled it and found the news - was in Thailand at the time. I'd bring D Hussey into the team and bat him at 3.

Picking the Aussie T20 team is very difficult. Because none of the Aussie test players play in the domestic T20 competition we don't get to compare them to players like Warner, S Marsh, D Hussey etc so we don't have any idea who we should pick.
