Ill get the ball rolling again
Heath Shaw or Luke Hodge?
Hodge looks a lot more consistent to me but Shaw can have those big 140 games. I would go Hodge just because he is a safer bet but let me tell you he will be very popular this year
Joel MacDonald or Xavier Ellis?

Sidebottom or Dangerfield?
Masten vs B.Ebert vs Swift
thanx for the post i want to try and get one of those west coast boys in my mid and looks like it will be a toss up between swift and ebert.
right Deledio vs O'Keefe
I would probably choose Deledio just because i can see some him improving by about 5-10ppg this year. I thought 09 was a bit of a struggle for Lids mainly with the tags, i can see him coping with them this year and the Richmond midfield looks like it will get better so he wont be the main target to shutdown.
But you always know your gonna get a very durable and reliable scorer in O'Keefe, and the price between them isnt much so you will get a good Dter no matter which one you choose.![]()
When moved into the midfield last year, O'Keefe became a DT machine, racking up high possi's and tackling like a madman! Its a question weather or not he will continue his role in the midfield (I personally believe he will) or if he will go back to the half forward flank?
No new question from what I can see so I'll throw up two young key forwards.
Josh Kennedy vs Tom Hawkins
O'Keefe will definitely play in the midfield this year. Jack will be released up forward and Bevan is hoping to start a role up forward too. With the addition of McGlynn and him hopefully playing a forward flank role you can almost be certain O'Keefe will play midfield again![]()
In that case.
O'Keefe!
Also. Nice forward line you have there! My only question mark is Harvey. Do you think his age will limit his scoring capabilites?
That could easily change though swans4eva, what if Deledio and Trengove isn't a forward? Harvey is 30k more (88 avg not 82 avg) would you still keep him?
I have said this before, but Ill say it again - expect Okeefe to get a heck of a lot more attention in 2010. There are a couple that may attract tags (shaw, mcveigh, goodes though he will be playing CHF) however I think Okeefe's ball winning ability (massive tank hence highly influencial throughout a game) and his polished skills mean that he may even become the number one target for taggers if he plays full time MF.
That said, he is having another absolutely ripping preseason, is extremely durable and should be good for a 90 average at least regardless. Im just not sure of his upside (particularly in the first half of the season), or whether he may be able to be picked up cheaper later in the year.
That said, he averaged 122.2 between rounds 8 and 16, so there is upside (and big upside), but, IMO once teams started to take note of this, he started getting some attention. He was tagged a number of times over the last 6 rounds, and he only averaged 86.17 during this time.
A lot to think about...
atm im only interested in Deledio, O'Keefe, Pavlich, Higgins and Franklin out of that list. All of them have upside but as you have said have their concerns.
I'd agree with most of that. but, sylvia has discipline problems rather than injury problemsI think that the forward keepers/premiums are very challenging - Ill share my thoughts on face value of the players.
- Chapman, Didak, S.Johnson, Sylvia, Higgins, Knights, Byrnes, Gia and Murphy have injury concerns
- Franklin and Petrie have suspensions for the first round or two
- B.Johnson, Akermanis, Lockyer, Harvey are all ageing
- Fevola is at a new club and im not sure how having JB there will influence both their scorings
- Riewoldt is very expensive and had that knee concern which does worry me
- Lynch is durable, but I think he doesn’t have much upside particularly now that his ruck time will be very limited due to the rise of naitanui
- Okeefe has the potential worry of tags IMO
- Pavlich is being talked up for his return forward, but he has still missed 3 games in each of the last 2 years
- Im not sure deledio will be a forward
- Goodes doesn’t seem to have as many concerns, except perhaps about his scoring as a FT half forward and the fact he may be fully priced
So, I dont think there is anything rock solid ATM and thus picking the right forward premiums and hoping they come off might be crucial to DT in 2010.
With Hawkins priced at 313k and Kennedy at 343k I wonder what you want out of these players? Are you hoping they can improve to a keeper or be a cash cow? Both are bad choices in my opinion
If you want a KP around that price range I would suggest that Roughead or even Bradshaw might have a gun year playing for the swannies.
I for one have decided this year to not have Key forwards in my forward line because I find they're too inconsistent and i wanted my forward line to be renowned for consistency. My only key forward is Pavlich because he can play in the midfield and is a bargain this year.
Current forward line- O'Keefe, Deledio, Pavlich, Harvey, Rioli, Dangerfield, Trengove
